Westover ARB

Chicopee, MA, United States

Space-A flights operate from Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where the 439th Airlift Wing posts travelers at a New England C-5M Super Galaxy reserve airlift station. An official Air Force Reserve fact sheet calls Westover the nation's largest Air Force Reserve base. The 439th Logistics Readiness Squadron Air Transportation Flight runs this Reserve passenger function, not an AMC gateway.

Terminal FAQ

Last verified 27 August 2026. Hours, fees, and presence rules change. Confirm with this terminal’s official page before you travel. Pop’s is unofficial.

Where is the passenger terminal?

Official-page conflict — do not silently pick one building name.

| Label | Location | Where printed | |---|---|---| | Space-A page (wins as the Space-A product) | 550 Hangar Ave, Bldg 7075, Westover ARB 01022 | Official Space-A page address / foyer signup | | Questions page | Hangar 3, south wing — 439th AW passenger terminal | Official Questions “Space A Flights” | | Front gate (not the terminal) | 2255 Westover Road, Chicopee, MA 01022 | Official homepage |

Workbook already flags Building 7075 vs Hangar 3. GPS Bldg 7075 / 550 Hangar Ave, then ask — do not assume Hangar 3 is a different hangar without checking. No official traveler-map URL.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

Homepage gate hours (non-UTA schedule) — printed on westover.afrc.af.mil:

  • Westover Rd Gate: 24 HOURS (IN/OUT)
  • James St Gate: 6 a.m.–9 a.m. (IN/OUT)
  • James St Gate: 3 p.m.–6 p.m. (OUTBOUND ONLY)

UTA weekends use a separate UTA schedule on the homepage (do not copy a dated 2024/2025 UTA list as current). Confirm before a UTA or holiday; James St has closed for holidays in past years while Westover Rd stayed 24 hours.

Pass & ID / Visitor’s Center / Vehicle Pass: 413-557-2012 (Contact Us). Security Forces / Law Enforcement Desk: 413-557-3557. Snowline: 413-557-3444.

No shuttle from the terminal to the main gate (~1 mile). If you return without a car on base, arrange pickup by a person with a military ID card. Contact Us also lists Space “A” Travel Transportation 413-557-3855 — print it; the Space-A page still says there is no shuttle. Do not silently drop either. This FAQ did not call.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours (official Space-A page — wins;):

  • Unmanned except during scheduled flights
  • Also open on all Unit Training Assembly (UTA) weekends, hours may vary
  • Not 24/7

Do not invent a standing Mon–Fri 0700–2300 office clock. Unofficial “staffed M–F 0700–2300 EST only if there is an active Space-A mission” (spacea.net, Feb 2025) is a lead — not used as the FAQ clock.

Day-of show (same page): arrive two hours prior for domestic flights and three hours prior for international flights.

Phones — do not silently pick; labels differ:

| Label | Number | Where printed | |---|---|---| | Passenger terminal desk | (413) 557-3453 | Space-A workbook / Contact Us “Passenger Terminal” / live AMC first number | | AMC second commercial | (413) 557-2622 | Live AMC 3453 / 2622 pair — not on the Space-A HTML body | | Flight information line (next 72 hours) | 413-557-2549 | Official Space-A page | | AMC DSN | (312) 589-3453 / 2622 | Live AMC row |

Do not publish (312) as a commercial number. Dial 413. DSN subscriber prefix 589. Contact Us “Space A Flight Information” sits in the phone directory; the Space-A page names 2549 as the flight-information line.

Email (official Space-A page / AMC / workbook — match): 439aw.spacea@us.af.mil

Westover is not on the HQ AMC 40-location form.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Official Space-A page (wins as SOP):

1. Study the AMC travel page; have eligibility/documents. 2. AMC Form 140 to 439aw.spacea@us.af.mil. Registration good up to 60 days. Active duty on leave cannot submit before leave starts or travel after leave expires. Or fill out the form in the foyer of Bldg. 7075. 3. Call the flight information line for the next 72 hours. If nothing in 60 days, submit another Form 140. 4. Register onward legs at other terminals. 5. Transportation plan (no shuttle). 6. Show 2 hours domestic / 3 hours international.

Questions-page conflict: signup also offered via Smartsheet (`app.smartsheetgov.com` publish link on Questions). Space-A page does not print that Smartsheet. Print both paths; Space-A HTML wins as the passenger-terminal SOP (Form 140 email / Bldg 7075 foyer). HQ AMC does not process this location. Print the confirmation. This FAQ did not call or email.

How and when do I mark present?

The Space-A page does not use the phrase “mark present.” The show is in person at the passenger terminal 2 hours (domestic) / 3 hours (international) prior. Remote email / foyer signup is not presence on flight day. Have documents on your person.

When is roll call?

Not published as a roll-call time or product URL. Official show is the 2h / 3h arrival. No 72-hour PDF. The 72-hour product is the phone line (413) 557-2549, not a board.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Same 2 hours domestic / 3 hours international (page does not split duty vs Space-A clocks). Not a PE gateway — no PE 24-hour early-bird. Late: do not assume boarding; the terminal may be unmanned if there is no scheduled flight.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Not published as a PE gateway. No 30-day PE product. Official operating model (not a live seat quote): many missions are C-5 first legs that go to a cargo pickup at a larger hub (Dover and McGuire named as examples). That first leg can release leftover seats because the aircraft is often lightly loaded out of Westover — not a promise of today’s seats. This FAQ does not quote live availability or copy a destination table.

Westover page also prints follow-on hub contacts (verify on those terminals’ own pages before you use them):

  • Dover AFB: pax 302-677-4088; flight info 302-677-2854; email on the Westover page 436APS.spacea@dover.af.mil vs live AMC 436aps.spacea@us.af.milflagged stale mailbox on this page
  • JB McGuire: pax 609-754-5023 (DSN 650-5023); 305.APS.McGuire.SPACE.A@us.af.mil
Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Official Space-A page: Long-term parking located between Walker Ave and Recall Ave. Vehicle registration and insurance must be up to date for the duration of storage.

Max days: not published. Short-term split: not published. Do not invent a limit.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

On base (Air Force Inns, matching property, checked 27 Aug 2026):

  • Westover ARB / The Flyers Inn, 650 Airlift Dr., Bldg. 2201, Chicopee, MA 01022. https://af.dodlodging.net/propertys/Westover-ARB
  • AF Inns mains: 413-593-5421 and 413-557-2854; DSN 589-2700 (DSN fax 589-2835). Do not publish (312) as commercial.
  • Installation Contact Us / Questions: On-Base Lodging (Flyers Inn) 413-557-2700 (and Questions also cites 413-593-5421 for TDY/Space-A). Print all three commercial lines; do not silently pick.
  • After-hours check-in: after 2200, lock box just outside the lobby entrance in Bldg 2201 — call lodging for instructions (AF Inns additional info).
  • Pets/children: AF Inns — contact the lodging office directly; do not rely on the web form. No rates stored here.

Off-base: Contact Us lists Off-Base Housing (Atlantic Marine Corps Community) 413-331-3205 & 888-602-8119 — housing, not a Space-A hotel list. Space-A page does not name commercial hotels. No rates.

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

Space-A page: limited amenitiesdoes not enumerate Wi-Fi / showers / lockers / food. Do not invent a snack bar in Bldg 7075.

Pioneer Valley USO: Contact Us 413-557-3290 (also “Pioneer Valley USO/Galaxy Community Council”). That is an installation listing, not a terminal-lounge hours product. Confirm in person; this FAQ does not invent USO hours.

What documents are required?

AMC Form 140; eligibility and documents per the AMC travel page (step 1). Active duty: form cannot be submitted before leave starts; cannot travel after leave expires. Have documents on your person at the 2h/3h show. Eligibility still follows DoDI 4515.13.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Not published as a 2×70 lb / 62-inch block on the current Space-A HTML. A 10 Feb 2019 Westover news story on disabled-veteran Space-A printed “up to two pieces … 70lbs each” — dated news, not the live Space-A SOP; not used as the FAQ limit. PE fee: not published. Confirm with the desk for this C-5 / mission.

Can I travel with pets from here?

Not published as a Westover aircraft pet-slot / kennel policy on the Space-A page. Flyers Inn: AF Inns says contact lodging for pet-friendly rooms — not an aircraft pet approval. See the AMC Pet Travel page.

Where are schedules posted?

Flight information line (413) 557-2549 for flights scheduled for the next 72 hours. No 72-hour URL, no roll-call URL, no 30-day board. Facebook: Not published as a PAX schedule channel — footer facebook.com/westover.patriot/ is the 439 AW / Westover Patriot wing page. No AMC Gram. Recheck the recording; this FAQ does not quote live seats.

Bldg 7075 or Hangar 3?

Both official. Space-A page: 550 Hangar Ave, Bldg 7075 (foyer signup). Questions: Hangar 3, south wing. Flagged; do not silently merge. Ask the desk which door to use.

Form 140 email or Questions Smartsheet?

Space-A page SOP: Form 140 to 439aw.spacea@us.af.mil or foyer of 7075. Questions also publishes a Smartsheet signup. Print both; Space-A HTML wins as terminal SOP.

(413) 557-3453, 2622, or 2549?

3453 = terminal desk (Contact Us / AMC). 2622 = AMC second commercial (not on Space-A HTML). 2549 = 72-hour flight information line (Space-A page). Print all labeled.

Is the terminal open if no flight is scheduled?

No — unmanned except scheduled flights (plus UTA weekends, hours vary). Do not plan a walk-up on a blank day.

2 hours or 3 hours?

Domestic 2 hours / international 3 hours on flight day.

Can active duty sign up before leave starts?

No. Official: cannot submit the Form 140 before leave has begun or travel after leave expires. Signup lasts 60 days; then submit another 140.

Is there a shuttle to the gate?

Space-A page: no shuttle; ~1-mile walk. Have a military-ID pickup if you will not have a car. Contact Us Space “A” Travel Transportation 413-557-3855 is a separate directory linenot treated as a published shuttle.

Flyers Inn phones — 5421, 2854, or 2700?

AF Inns: 413-593-5421 and 413-557-2854, DSN 589-2700. Contact Us: 413-557-2700. Print all. After 2200, lock box at Bldg 2201.

Is facebook.com/westover.patriot the board?

No. Wing page only. Use (413) 557-2549.

Is this a PE gateway or a C-5 first-leg?

Not published as PE. Official model: C-5 often leaves relatively empty toward a Dover / McGuire cargo pickup — leftover seats may exist on that first leg. Not today’s seat count.

Is Westover on the HQ AMC 40-location form?

No. Email 439aw.spacea@us.af.mil. March 2026 self-signup tool is for AMC locations.
