Ramstein Air Base in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, is headquarters for U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa, and Space-A flights use the AMC passenger terminal at Ramstein-Miesenbach. The 86th Airlift Wing is the host wing, and 721st Aerial Port Squadron passenger service runs the terminal. This German airfield is the European and African air-component headquarters, not a typical en-route fighter station.

Where is the passenger terminal?

AMC Ramstein Passenger Terminal, Bldg 3333, Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany 66877.

GPS the building, not a generic “Ramstein AB” pin. The terminal is on base. The AMC page does not publish a terminal-map URL.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The AMC Ramstein page does not print gate names or gate hours. Do not invent a West Gate / East Gate plan from blogs.

From ramstein.af.mil (Visitor Control Center fact sheet + 10 Mar 2025 relocation article; DVIDS video 12 Jun 2025): visitors without a DoD CAC or DBIDS card process at the ROB-MC Gate VCC, Bldg 800, listed open 7 days, 6 a.m.–9 p.m. The same fact-sheet HTML also still contains a line that the ROB-MC Gate VCC is “closed until further notice.” Treat gate/VCC status as changeable. Confirm with Passenger Service Center before you drive.

CAC / DBIDS holders use an open vehicle-access gate. Retirees and dependents without current installation access should not assume they can roll up at 0330 on a Sunday.

Do not treat older 06371-46-xxxx or spacea@ramstein.af.mil listings as current. Do not publish AMC (312) as a commercial number; Ramstein’s printed DSN prefix is 314.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Email 721aps.ramstein.spaceasignup@us.af.mil, or use the HQ AMC Space-A email form and select Ramstein AB Germany.

HQ AMC does not process sign-up. The AMC form warns the terminal may not receive the email. Print the completed form or confirmation and bring it. If you get no confirmation, call the Passenger Service Center.

Unaccompanied command-sponsored (CAT V) travelers need a commander’s sponsorship letter. The AMC Ramstein page hosts a CAT V Unaccompanied Letter template.

How and when do I mark present?

The AMC page does not use the phrase “mark present.” Space-A selection happens at roll call at the Flight Control desk (adjacent to the elevator). Remote email sign-up is not presence.

Have passports, orders, pet paperwork, and all bags with you. Turn in rental cars (or use the vendor key-drop) before check-in.

When is roll call?

4 hours and 20 minutes prior to departure at the Flight Control desk (adjacent to the elevator), unless the 72-hour schedule says otherwise.

Recent trends are on the Roll Call icon under the 72-hour schedule. Trends are not today’s board. All flights can change or delay without notice.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

PE: Check-in counters open 24 hours prior to PE departure.

Military aircraft: Check-in opens 6 hours prior.

Duty, PCS, and pre-booked: Be in the terminal NLT 4 hours 30 minutes before scheduled departure. Late arrivals go to Customer Service for re-booking, not automatic boarding.

If you check in early, bring all checked bags, carry-ons, and pets, plus documents on your person (not packed). Exact report-NLT times are also on the 72-hour schedule.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Yes. Ramstein publishes a 30-day PE schedule icon on the AMC page. Duty/PCS passengers book through their transportation office; Space-A rides leftover seats.

Do not treat a blog list as the current rotator. A 1–30 September 2025 PE PDF on the AMC site listed Baltimore-Washington International, Maryland only (last updated 29 Aug 2025). A 2025 U.S. Army Europe article also describes BWI as the primary U.S. PE gateway to/from Ramstein. That is not a 2026 promise. Open the live 30-day PE and 72-hour PDFs on the AMC Ramstein page before you travel. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published on the AMC Ramstein HTML page. Do not copy unofficial “8-floor garage / 4th floor / no pass” writeups (spacea.net and base-directory listings are unofficial leads only).

The terminal page links a July 2025 AMC Gram (“RMS AMC Gram”) for local travel information. Read that PDF on the official page for parking rules. If the Gram is silent, call the Passenger Service Center. Do not invent a max-day figure.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

On base (Air Force Inns, checked 27 Aug 2026):

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

USO Ramstein is in the passenger terminal, second floor, Bldg 3333. Official USO page: https://kaiserslautern.uso.org/ramstein · ramstein@uso.org

Hours conflict — AMC page first: AMC lists Mon–Thu 0900–1700; Fri 0900–1600; Sat 0900–1400 (Sunday not listed). The live USO Ramstein page lists Mon–Thu 09:00–17:00; Fri 08:00–16:00; Sat & Sun closed. Confirm in person.

USO (official center page) lists Wi-Fi throughout the terminal, CAC computers, printing/scanning, phones, fax, snacks/beverages, family lounge, movie area, children’s play area, nursery, toiletries. Showers and lockers are not published on the AMC page or that USO amenities list. Unofficial “no lockers / Subway in terminal” lines are not verified here.

What documents are required?

Duty / space-required: Travel orders and the documents listed for your destination (passports, NATO orders, visas, FCG). Have them on your person.

Space-A: Eligibility under DoDI 4515.13, plus DoD Force Health Protection and Foreign Clearance Guide. Unaccompanied command-sponsored dependents: commander’s letter (template on the AMC page).

CDC U.S. pet entry requirements for dogs are linked from the Ramstein AMC banner. Do not pack passports or pet papers in a checked bag.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (AMC Ramstein page): 2 checked bags per person, 70 lb and 62 linear inches each, unless orders say otherwise. One carry-on plus one personal item that fits under a seat.

PE Space-A fee (AMC page): $41.63 per passenger for Head Tax and Federal Inspection Fee (printed as one combined charge).

Payment: As of 1 January 2025, Ramstein does not accept cash. Card only.

These fees change. Do not treat a 2025/2026 number as locked months out.

Can I travel with pets from here?

The AMC page treats pets as a check-in item (bring them if you check in early; have pet paperwork on you) and links CDC dog-entry rules. It does not publish a Ramstein-specific pet-slot policy, kennel rules, or a “pets not accepted” banner.

You own the paperwork (microchip, shots, destination rules). Call the Passenger Service Center before you count on a pet space. See the AMC Pet Travel page.

Is Ramstein still a PE gateway to the U.S.?

Yes, it publishes a 30-day PE board. The last PE PDF captured here (Sep 2025) listed BWI only. Confirm the current month’s PDF. Do not plan CONUS arrival at Norfolk or McGuire from a 2024 rumor.

What if I show after 4 hours 30 minutes on a PE?

Duty/PCS/pre-booked passengers after NLT are sent to Customer Service for re-booking, not automatically boarded.

Can I pay the PE head tax in cash or euros cash?

No. Card only since 1 Jan 2025.

Where exactly is roll call?

Flight Control desk, adjacent to the elevator — not an unnamed “Space-A counter” in the lobby. Ask if you cannot see it.

Do I need a CAT V letter if my sponsor is stationed in Germany and I am traveling unaccompanied?

Yes if you are unaccompanied command-sponsored. Use the template on the AMC Ramstein page. The page does not print a validity window; bring a current letter.

Which gate for a 0400 Monday show time?

AMC does not print a 24/7 passenger-gate list. VCC at ROB-MC is published 0600–2100. A 0400 show with no CAC/DBIDS is a planning problem. Call Passenger Service Center / VCC the day prior.

Is there Wi-Fi in the hold room if USO is closed?

AMC page does not document terminal Wi-Fi independent of USO. USO says Wi-Fi throughout the terminal; USO itself may be closed Sunday (USO site) even if the terminal is open 0600–2200.

Where do I dump the rental car?

Before check-in, at the vendor or the key-drop boxes. The AMC page does not name which companies still have a drop box.

Is Bldg 3336 lodging next to Bldg 3333?

AF Inns places Ramstein Inns at Bldg 3336 / GEB 3336. The AMC page does not print walking time. Do not assume a room without a confirmed reservation (no online booking).

Are showers in the terminal?

Not published on the AMC page or the USO Ramstein amenities list. Do not plan on them.

What about parking in the deck next to the terminal?

Not on the AMC HTML page. Unofficial Space-A sites describe a garage; flagged unofficial. Use the July 2025 Gram or call the desk.

Is 06371-46-4440 still the recording?

No. Official recording is +49 6371-479-4440. Older 46-xxxx numbers are stale.
