The station is on the north-west coast of Crete by the village of Mouzouras, about 10 miles (17 km) east of Chania, on the Greek Air Force airfield. GPS Bldg 5 / Mouzouras, not a generic “Chania airport” commercial pin. On the Hellenic installation. No published terminal-map URL on the AMC HTML.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?
Greek Air Force host; U.S. access is through the Visitor Control Center. The AMC page:
Unaffiliated passengers must go directly to the VCC for installation access. You are not permitted into other base facilities without that permission.
Installation facilities are restricted to certain categories of Space-A passengers. Check what services you are actually eligible to use.
Present a DoD ID / USID and proof of Space-A travel (digital or hard copy of your Space-A registration) at the VCC during normal hours.
VCC hours (AMC page):0800–1500, Monday through Friday, except American and Greek holidays. Located outside the installation’s main gate.
After hours: wait at the Greek main gate may be lengthy. Ask Greek Security to contact U.S. Navy Security Forces. Same ID + Space-A registration; you may get temporary access until VCC opens.
The AMC page does not print a VCC phone. A dated CNIC NSA Souda Bay Base Access Requirements PDF (28 Feb 2024) lists VCC DSN 314-266-1189, Comm +30-282-102-1189, email M-SB-NSA-SB-ID-GD@eu.navy.mil, hours Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–3 p.m. That PDF is dated Feb 2024. AMC HTML VCC hours win for this FAQ; treat the 2024 phone as a lead to confirm, not a 2026 promise.
CAC / DoD ID holders still need a legitimate reason and, if unaffiliated, VCC processing. Do not assume a Saturday 2200 walk-up.

How do I sign up for Space-A?
Email spaceasoudabay@us.navy.mil, or use the HQ AMC Space-A form and select NSA Souda Bay Greece (on the HQ form list). The page also links the HQ form as “Sign-up for Space Available Travel.”
HQ AMC does not process sign-up. Print the completed form or confirmation — you must show proof of Space-A registration at the VCC.
Active duty must be within chargeable leave dates to sign up; they will want to see leave paperwork. Dependents present a Space-Available travel letter.
How and when do I mark present?
In person. All passengers competing for a seat must be marked present within 24 hours prior to a Space-A roll call. Arrive at the terminal with all travel documents and the travel party, go to the passenger service desk, and they will mark you present. Only then are you on the present list for that roll call.
Remote email is not present. On departure day you must be travel ready prior to roll call: car parked, travel party and baggage corralled.
When is roll call?
3 hours prior to departure for Duty Standby (duty passengers on orders without a reservation) and Space-A.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?
Duty Standby / Space-A:3 hours prior (same roll-call clock). No-cost travel orders for duty passengers on official travel without a reservation are not authorized. Only official travel orders with proper CIC (Customer Identification Code) or billing information.
PE “day prior” check-in does not apply. PE ended 1 Oct 2025. Leftover PE language may still sit on the HTML (footwear exception; “monthly PE schedule will be posted 7 days prior to new month” still in live snippets). Use the current 72-hour for that mission’s NLT.
Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?
No current PE. HQ AMC / Naples terminal banner and USTRANSCOM: PE at NSA Souda Bay, Greece (with Incirlik, Naples, Rota, Sigonella) ended effective 1 October 2025.
The Souda HTML still talks like PE exists in places (Patriot Express footwear exception; monthly PE schedule sentence). Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?
The page tells you to have the car parked before roll call. Max days, long-term lot, and pass rules are not published on the AMC HTML. Do not invent a flight-line limit from blogs.
What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

Off-base hotels are not listed on the AMC page. Installation facilities are category-restricted for some Space-A travelers. No nightly rates here.
Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?
AMC page: amenities are limited (small terminal). Free WIFI and vending machines. Small USO is on your immediate right upon entering the passenger terminal.
Baggage storage lockers are not available. Showers are not published. USO clock hours are not printed on the AMC HTML — do not assume 24/7 staffing from the terminal being 24-7. Food beyond vending is not named (no galley-in-terminal line on this HTML).
What documents are required?
VCC / access: DoD ID or USID plus digital or hard copy of Space-A registration.
Space-A: DoDI 4515.13 eligibility; leave paperwork (active duty within chargeable dates); dependents’ Space-A travel letter; passports/visas/FCG as required.
Duty standby: official orders with CIC / billing — not no-cost orders without a reservation.
Have documents on your person. Unattended bags will be disposed of.
What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?
Bags (AMC page): 2 checked pieces not to exceed 70 lb each (140 lb total) and 62 linear inches. A single item over 70 lb and/or 62 linear inches counts as 2 pieces and therefore fulfils the allowance. One carry-on article plus one personal item; carry-on must fit under the seat and may not exceed 45 linear inches. Infant car seats and fold-up strollers do not count against the allowance and must be checked before the secure area. Weight may be further limited by aircraft type.
PE Space-A tax:Not published as a dollar figure here (and PE has ended). Payment method (cash vs card) is not printed.
Can I travel with pets from here?
The AMC Souda page links HQ AMC Pet Travel and IATA Traveler’s Pet Corner. It does not print a Souda-specific pet-slot or kennel rule. Is the terminal 24/7 or 0600–2200?
Both, as printed.Operating hours 24-7; customer service assistance 0600–2200. Workbook 0600–2200 is the assistance line. After 2200 you may find an operating terminal without a full PSA desk — not published beyond that split.
Did PE really end here?
Yes, 1 Oct 2025 (HQ AMC banner / USTRANSCOM, same five-base list). Ignore leftover PE footwear / monthly-PE-PDF language and the Apr 2026 30-day PE filename until the live icon shows something current — and even then it is not a seat quote.
Can I get on base with only a passport?
The AMC page wants DoD ID/USID and Space-A registration at VCC. Unaffiliated Space-A without that packet is the after-hours Greek-gate story, not a tourist walk-up.
VCC is closed Saturday. Can I still fly Saturday?
Operating hours are 24-7; VCC is weekday 0800–1500. After-hours access is the Greek main gate → U.S. Navy Security Forces procedure with ID + registration, then temporary access until VCC opens. Wait times “may be lengthy.” Confirm with Passenger Service before you plan a Saturday show with no existing access.
Where exactly is the USO?

Are lockers available while I go to Chania?
No. “Baggage storage lockers are not available at the terminal.” Unattended bags are disposed of.
Flip-flops on the jet?
Prohibited on military aircraft (open-toe / open-heel / narrow high heels / sandals / flip-flops). The PE “no footwear restrictions” line is leftover PE language.
Do no-cost / space-required-without-reservation orders work?
No. The page: no-cost orders for duty without a reservation are not authorized. Need CIC or billing on official orders.
Navy Inn Bldg 49 vs terminal Bldg 5?
Lodging is Bldg 49 (official Navy Inn page). Terminal mailing address is Bldg 5. The AMC page does not print walking time. You still need base access to use lodging.
