Naval Air Station Whidbey Island handles Space-A flights at a Navy air terminal on Ault Field in Oak Harbor, Washington. The station is home to the Navy's EA-18G Growler electronic-attack community and to Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 10's P-8A Poseidon squadrons. Air Mobility Command lists the site among Non-AMC CONUS locations, but the desk is Navy-operated, not an AMC passenger terminal.

Where is the passenger terminal?

NAS Whidbey Island Air Terminal / Air Passenger Terminal, Ault Field (not Seaplane Base).

The official Space-A HTML does not print a street pin or building number. Workbook lead 1060 Lexington St, Bldg 2734, Oak Harbor, WA 98278 is not on that page — treat as a lead, not a verified pin. Official lodging pins are Navy Lodge, 760 Coral Sea Drive and Navy Inn / NGIS, 1175 W. Midway St, Bldg 973 — those are lodging, not the Air Terminal.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The Space-A page does not print gate names or gate hours. Use official Visitor Information (Wayback 2026 calendar capture + live search 27 Aug 2026):

Ault Field (this Air Terminal):

  • Charles Porter Gate — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (the published 24/7 Ault Field gate).
  • Langley Gate — 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. VCC is Bldg 2853, located near Langley Gate.
  • Saratoga/Hospital Gate — Closed.
  • Hammer/Nortz Gate — 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. automated after 8:30 a.m. (contact the Vehicle Control Center on Langley Blvd for details), Monday thru Friday. PAC enrollment at the VCC for automated periods (active duty, DoD civilians, retirees, dependents). Contractors are not authorized per DoN policy.

Seaplane Base (not the Air Terminal): Torpedo Gate 24/7; Maui Gate 6:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. M–F and 8:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m. weekends/holidays. Do not GPS Seaplane Base for this hop.

Visitor Control Center: Bldg 2853 (near Langley Gate), (360) 257-5620. Hours Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Doors close at 3:20 p.m. for closing procedures; arrivals after 3:20 p.m. seen case-by-case (active duty in uniform have priority). Closed weekends as a published VCC clock. Visitors without authorized credentials after hours or weekends are case-by-case; there is no guarantee of access without prior vetting.

As of noon Friday 17 May 2024, NASWI requires 100% ID Card inspection at Entry Control Points. Escorted travel continues; escorts must ensure passengers 18+ have valid U.S. ID REAL ID-compliant. Foreign-national escorts coordinate with the VCC ahead of time (Foreign National Application may take up to 30 days).

CAC / DD Form 2 / DD Form 1173 / DBIDS holders use an open vehicle-access gate (Charles Porter 24/7 on Ault Field). Retirees and dependents without current installation access should not assume a Sunday 0500 show is possible if VCC is the only way in.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

IN PERSON only at the NAS Whidbey Island Air Terminal, within 72 hours of launch.

Official page: “You must sign up IN PERSON.” The terminal no longer takes sign-ups over the phone. However, certain circumstances may permit you to sign up over the phone. Does not take FAXED or E-MAIL Space-A requests. There are no “General” waiting lists. All flights are mission-driven.

Call customer service (360) 257-2604 or 6707 for further assistance / to ask where you are on the register — that is not remote signup except in the page’s “certain circumstances.”

NAS Whidbey Island is not on the HQ AMC 40-location Space-A email form. HQ AMC does not process sign-up. Do not email the directory mailbox as if it were a Form 140 inbox.

How and when do I mark present?

The Space-A page does not use the phrase “mark present.” Sign-up is in person within 72 hours of launch. Remote email is not accepted and is not presence. Phone signup is not the default. Have documents and bags with you at the Air Terminal.

When is roll call?

Not published as an “N hours prior” clock or a public Roll Call PDF/icon. Official page: mission-driven; no general waiting lists. Do not invent a 3-hour or 4-hour desk. Confirm show time in person / at (360) 257-2604. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Not published as a separate PE/duty NLT. This is not a published Patriot Express gateway. Use the published counter hours (conflict table above) and the two-hours-prior-to-launch overlay. Duty/PCS still work through their transportation office. Late arrivals are not documented as automatic boarding.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Not published. The official Space-A HTML does not print “Patriot Express” or a 30-day PE board. Flights are mission-driven. Do not plan a rotator hop from a blog. A 2019 C-40 photo on the installation homepage is not a 2026 schedule. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published on the official Space-A page. Do not copy unofficial “park at the terminal / max days” writeups. Official installation site map is wayfinding, not a parking-policy sheet. If the desk is silent, do not invent a max-day figure.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

The Space-A HTML does not name lodging.

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

Not published on the official Space-A page. Do not copy unofficial amenity hours. Navy Lodge / Navy Inn amenity lists are lodging, not terminal amenities.

What documents are required?

Space-A: Eligibility under the categories printed on the official page (Cat I–VI). Space-A may not be used for personal gain or to establish a home when restrictions prohibit such travel.

  • Reservists: ID card and DD Form 1853 (page: may fly CONUS and overseas).
  • Retirees: DD Form 2 (Blue) ID (page: CONUS and overseas).
  • Passports / Foreign Clearance Guide as required for overseas. Civilian attire permitted; clothing must match FCG and keep you warm on military aircraft.

Have documents on your person. The page still hosts a 1 April 2003–1 April 2004 CONUS accompanied-dependents one-year test note — that block is dated leftover, not a 2026 policy statement. Do not treat 2003–2004 as current.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (official Space-A page): two pieces of luggage to equal 40 pounds per person. Hand-carry only what fits under the seat or in the overhead, if available. Over 40 lbs must be approved by the aircraft commander.

That is not the common AMC 2 × 70 lb / 62 linear-inch rule. Official page wins. Do not substitute 70 lb from another terminal.

Fees: Not published. No PE head-tax line (consistent with not being a PE gateway).

Can I travel with pets from here?

Not published as a local pet program on the Space-A page. Do not assume a mission-driven leftover will take a kennel. See the AMC Pet Travel page. Navy Lodge and Navy Inn list pet-friendly rooms: call the desk.

Where are schedules posted?

Is the G2 Flight Schedule the 72-hour board?

It is a login-walled schedule (SSN & last name). Not a public 72-hour URL. Do not publish it as one.

Which gate for a weekend Ault Field show?

Charles Porter Gate is the published 24/7 Ault Field gate. Langley/VCC are weekday. Visitors without credentials on a weekend: no guarantee.

Do I GPS Seaplane Base / Navy Lodge on Coral Sea Drive?

No for the Air Terminal. Seaplane Base is a different complex. Lodge at 760 Coral Sea Drive is lodging.

Is this on the HQ AMC 40-location email form?

No. In-person signup.

Can I dial a (312) DSN from my cell as if it were commercial?

AMC prints DSN None. 312 is not a commercial prefix. Call (360) 257-2604.

Is the 2003–2004 CONUS dependents test still running?

The page still prints a 1 Apr 2003–1 Apr 2004 one-year test. Treat as dated leftover. Do not plan 2026 travel on that paragraph.

Is NAS Whidbey AMC-operated because it is on the AMC directory?

No. Keep Non-AMC CONUS / Navy Space-A air terminal. The AMC row is a contact listing.
