Ayase / Yamato, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan

Space-A flights at Naval Air Facility Atsugi are handled by a Navy air terminal in Kanagawa Prefecture, between Ayase and Yamato. Official CNIC pages state the airfield is SOFA personnel only for departure from Japan, and that Space-A seats are decided by the flight commander, not the terminal. This is not an AMC-staffed passenger terminal. Atsugi is Navy mission airlift from a SOFA-restricted field west of Tokyo.

Where is the passenger terminal?

Street address / building number: not published on the official Space-A HTML (workbook address is also blank).

Do not copy unofficial “Bldg 206” listings. Official Air Operations mailing line is PSC 477 Box 13, FPO AP 96306-1213 (that is the Air Operations office, not a proven terminal pin). GPS NAF Atsugi Air Terminal, on base, co-located with JMSDF. Confirm the building with Air Terminal at the numbers below.

No terminal-map URL on the Space-A page.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The Space-A HTML does not name a Space-A gate. Use official NAF Atsugi Gate Hours (cnrj.cnic.navy.mil, live-indexed 27 Aug 2026; Wayback 17 May 2026):

  • Main Gate / North Gate: 24 hours, 7 days
  • East Gate: 24 hours, 7 days
  • West Gate: 0530–0830 and 1515–1830, weekdays only; closed all other times and weekends
  • JMSDF Gate (foot traffic only): same weekday windows as West Gate; closed otherwise
  • One-day guest visiting hours: Sun–Sat 0800–2359; Family Housing 0800–2359
  • Navy Lodge & Navy Gateway Inn guests: 24 hours with lodging receipt (this is a pass category — it does not mean a Navy Lodge property exists at Atsugi)
  • Pass & ID: manned 0600–2359 Mon–Fri, 0700–2359 Sat–Sun. VRO Mon–Fri 0800–1600. VRO/Pass & ID DSN 264-3805

West Gate conflict with NGIS lodging page: Navy Inn Atsugi (NGIS) still prints West Gate 0530–0800 and 1530–1900, Monday–Friday only. Official NSF Gate Hours page wins for the 0530–0830 / 1515–1830 windows. Confirm before you drive.

CAC / SOFA ID holders use a vehicle-access gate. House-guest passes need a request before arrival (not to exceed 60 days in a calendar year; medical/travel insurance min. $100,000). Do not assume a retiree can roll up at 0400 without a pass.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

How do I sign up for Space-A?

The official Space-A page does not print an email sign-up recipe. It tells you to call 0467-63-3118 / DSN 264-3118 between 0600 and 2200.

NAF Atsugi is not on the HQ AMC 40-location email-form list. Do not select a nearby Japan terminal and hope it forwards.

Directory mailbox M-AT-NAFA-Airops-ODO@us.navy.mil is the AMC-directory channel if you email; print anything you send and verify by phone — the page never says HQ AMC or that mailbox processes the list. AMC Travel Self-Signup Tool language is “all AMC locations”; Atsugi is Navy-operated / not AMC-staffed — do not assume the tool covers it.

How and when do I mark present?

Not published as a “mark present” window. Remote email is not presence. Seats are released by the Flight Commander on the day of the flight, not by the air terminal in advance. Be where the terminal tells you when you call. Have passports, SOFA / ID, orders/leave, and bags.

If you intend to depart Japan from Atsugi and you are not SOFA (or you hold a foreign passport): the page requires you to come to the Air Terminal at least 24 hours prior for instruction.

When is roll call?

Not published as a fixed “N hours prior” on the Space-A HTML. No 72-hour or roll-call PDF icon on that page. Ask the duty line / recorder. Unofficial “3 to 4 hours prior” writeups are not verification.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Not published as a standing PE NLT or early-bird clock on the Space-A HTML. Duty/leave/TDY assistance is in the Air Operations mission statement; show times come from the terminal when a mission exists. Do not invent a 3-hour NLT.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Not published as a PE gateway (no 30-day PE product, no city list). The Space-A page’s leftover Samsung Galaxy Note 7 banner still says the ban applies to DoD aircraft “(Including PE missions)” — that is a device rule that mentions PE, not a rotator schedule. Do not plan a Sea-Tac / Yokota PE hop from Atsugi from a blog.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published on the official Space-A HTML. Do not invent a lot or a day cap. Ask Air Terminal.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

Navy Lodge / NGIS official only. There is no Navy Lodge Atsugi on navy-lodge.com (Japan Lodge properties found: Yokosuka, Sasebo).

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

Not published on the official Space-A HTML. Do not plan a USO, showers, or lockers from unofficial directories. NGIS lists on-base amenities (galley, exchange, etc.) for lodging guests, not as terminal hold-room services.

What documents are required?

SOFA status matters for leaving Japan from this field. Official page: NAF Atsugi’s airfield is a SOFA Personnel Only Airfield. Non-SOFA / foreign-passport passengers who intend to depart Japan from Atsugi must appear at the Air Terminal at least 24 hours prior.

Bring passports, military/SOFA ID, leave or orders, and FCG documents for the destination. Eligibility remains DoDI 4515.13. Have papers on your person.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Not published on the official Space-A HTML. Do not copy Iwakuni/Yokota PE head-tax numbers. Confirm with the terminal for that airframe.

Can I travel with pets from here?

Not published on the Space-A HTML. Do not assume a Navy organic mission will take a pet. See the AMC Pet Travel page. Navy Inn Atsugi is pet-friendly for lodging, which is not a pet-in-cabin/hold slot.

Where are schedules posted?

The Space-A page talks about a “flight outlook” but the June 2026-adjacent capture used here did not extract a 72-hour PDF. Can I just show up from Yokota the same morning and compete?

Not if you are leaving Japan and you are not SOFA. The page wants 24 hours prior at the Air Terminal for non-SOFA / foreign-passport departures. Even SOFA travelers: seats are day-of, Flight Commander — not the terminal’s to promise.

Why won’t they tell me the aircraft type on the phone?

Official page: mission oriented; unable to disclose aircraft type(s) over the phone.

Is 090-5331-4254 the Space-A desk?

AMC directory / workbook only. Official Space-A HTML does not print it. Start with 0467-63-3118.

Is Atsugi on the HQ AMC 40-location form?

No. Iwakuni, Yokota, Misawa, Kadena are. Atsugi is not. Do not sign up for Yokota and expect Atsugi to see it.

Is there a Navy Lodge next to the terminal?

No Navy Lodge property at Atsugi on the official Lodge site. Official lodging is Navy Inn Atsugi / NGIS, Bldg 482. NSF gate-hours still uses the phrase “Navy Lodge & Navy Gateway Inn” as a guest-pass category.

Which West Gate clock?

NSF Gate Hours: 0530–0830 / 1515–1830 weekdays. NGIS page: 0530–0800 / 1530–1900 weekdays. NSF wins for gates. Main/North/East are 24/7 on NSF.

Does the Galaxy Note 7 line mean the page is abandoned?

It is a dated leftover still printed. Hours/phones on the same page still match the 27 Aug 2026 AMC directory. Do not treat the whole page as dead; do not treat Note 7 as your packing list.

Where is “mark present” if seats are decided on the day?

Not published. Call 0600–2200 and follow that day’s instruction. Recorder after hours.

Can they guarantee Space-A if a C-40 is on the outlook?

Official page: no guarantee posted flight(s) will take Space-A. Outlook ≠ seats.
