Northern Japan's Misawa Air Base hosts an AMC passenger terminal for Space-A flights in Aomori Prefecture, on Honshu's northeastern coast. Official 35th Fighter Wing pages describe Misawa as the northernmost U.S. installation in Japan and the only bilateral, joint-service, civilian-use airfield in the Pacific. The ramp is shared with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Misawa City Airport. Rotator options, when listed on official traveler pages, are subject to change.

Where is the passenger terminal?

AMC Air Terminal Ground Handling Services (ATGHS) Misawa, mailing address Misawa Air Base, Japan, Unit 5008 Box 5, APO AP 96319 (official terminal page; workbook matches).

Building number: Bldg 943 on the official 35th Fighter Wing directory PDF linked from misawa.af.mil (also on the 2026 phone-directory file on the 21 Aug 2026 terminal-page snapshot). The terminal HTML body does not reprint “943.” GPS Bldg 943 / AMC terminal, not a generic “Misawa AB” pin and not Misawa City Airport (commercial JAL). On base. No terminal-map URL on the passenger-terminal HTML.

Government/AMC arrivals: AMC terminal on base. Commercial arrivals: Misawa City Airport (March 2024 newcomers book — dated; still the operational split the book describes).

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The passenger-terminal HTML does not name a Space-A gate. Use official 35 SFS Pass and Registration (misawa.af.mil):

  • Pass and Registration: Bldg 653 (vehicle-registration guide and directory). Email 35SFS.S5.PASS-REGISTRATION@US.AF.MIL. March 2024 newcomers book (dated): Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m., DSN (315) 226-3995. A separate directory line also prints Pass & Registration DSN 226-2897 — flag extra directory stem; call/email the office to confirm.
  • Friendship Gate: SOFA members with escort privileges may sign guests in with three consecutive 24-hour passes. Longer than 72 hours requires an extended base-pass application before the visit (up to 30 days: up to 10 days processing; up to 90 days: up to 14 days; over 90 days or third-country nationals: minimum 45 days).
  • Non-U.S. / non-Japanese visitors need the Foreign National Sign-in Form routed with the request.
  • Housing ETP if a visitor will stay in base housing more than 30 days: Housing Office DSN 226-3200 first.

CAC / DoD ID / SOFA holders use a vehicle-access gate. Retirees and unescorted visitors should not assume they can roll up at 0500 on a PE morning without a pass. Confirm with Pass and Registration / the terminal. Do not invent “Main Gate 24/7” from unofficial lists.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours (official terminal page — wins): 0600L–1800L, Monday–Friday.

Workbook lead 0600–1800 matches the clock but omits Monday–Friday. Official page wins: weekdays only. Do not treat 0600–1800 as a 7-day counter.

Treat 226-2852 as directory/welcome-book, not as a line the live terminal HTML advertises. Confirm if you use it. Do not publish AMC (312) as commercial. Misawa DSN is 315.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Email 35fw.spacea@us.af.mil. Sponsor’s email must include: Full Name, Rank, Service affiliation, Leave Dates, and desired travel destination. Dependents traveling with the sponsor must be identified by name (passport number optional).

Or use the HQ AMC Space-A email form and select Misawa AB Japan (on the 40-location list).

HQ AMC does not process sign-up. Print the completed form or confirmation. AMC Travel Self-Signup Tool is available for AMC locations.

How and when do I mark present?

The page does not use “mark present.” Duty/orders check-in cannot happen without all of: carry-on bags, checked bags, pets (if traveling), physical copy of orders, military ID/passports.

Be in person with everything. Remote email is not presence. PE show times are on the 72 HOUR SLIDE, not in this FAQ.

When is roll call?

Not printed as a fixed “N hours prior” on the HTML. The page: for Patriot Express check-in times, see “72 HOUR SLIDE.” A Roll Call icon on the 21 Aug 2026 snapshot pointed at 24-HOUR SPACE-A ROLL-CALL REPORT 21 AUG 2026.pdf — dated, not standing. Re-open the live icon. All flights are subject to change without prior notice.

Do not use a 19 JAN 2026 roll-call PDF as current.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

PE: See the 72-hour slide (red banner on the official page). This FAQ does not invent a 3-hour NLT.

Orders passengers: you must have all bags, pets, physical orders, and ID/passports at check-in — “CHECK-IN CANNOT HAPPEN WITHOUT ALL OF THESE ITEMS.”

Late-arrival rebooking language is not on the HTML. Do not invent a Customer Service script.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Yes. The official page has a PE check-in banner and a 30-day icon. On 21 Aug 2026 that icon was 30-Day Schedule AUG 2026.pdf.

Do not freeze destinations from the March 2024 newcomers book (it described a weekly SEA-TAC rotator). That book is dated. Open the live 30-day AUG (or current month) PDF on misawa.af.mil. This FAQ does not quote live seats or a 2026 city list.

An AMC Patriot Express (PE) Gram (Spring 2025) PDF is still linked from the terminal-page accordion — Spring 2025, not current.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published on the passenger-terminal HTML. Do not copy unofficial “long-term parking xx miles away” lines (spacea.net is a lead only).

The dated Misawa AMC Gram (DAF76, 16 Jun 2025) is linked from the accordion — dated June 2025, not treated as a current standing Gram. If you read it on the live page, treat parking numbers as as-of that date. If the live Gram is still 06-16-25, ask the counter rather than inventing a max-day figure.

Misawa City Airport parking is civilian airport parking, not the AMC terminal lot.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

On base (Air Force Inns, checked 27 Aug 2026):

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

Official Passenger Amenities fact sheet (misawa.af.mil `/passenger-ammenities/`, Wayback latest HTTP 200 18 Nov 2025; live fetch 403 on 27 Aug 2026):

Showers, lockers, and USO are not on that official list. Do not plan on them. Do not copy unofficial “USO: No / lockers: none” blogs as if they were the fact sheet.

Cash: As of 14 June 2024 the Misawa Passenger Terminal has officially gone cashless (live page / 21 Aug 2026 capture). Bring a card.

What documents are required?

Orders passengers: physical copy of orders, military ID/passports, all bags, pets if any.

Space-A: DoDI 4515.13 eligibility; FCG Japan; leave dates in the signup email. Dependents with sponsor must be named on the email.

Japan leave generally needs a tourist (blue) passport per AMC-wide FCG practice — confirm current FCG; this terminal HTML does not reprint the Iwakuni-style SOFA paragraph.

CDC dog-entry: accordion still links a CDC Animal Importation Form. Pet pamphlet on the 21 Aug 2026 capture is AMC Pet Travel Pamphlet 05 May 2026 (live 27 Aug 2026 search snippet still showed 4 Sep 2025 in truncated accordion text — flag that date split; open the live accordion).

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Not printed as 70 lb / 62 in on the Misawa HTML. The page sends baggage rules to the AMC Travel site. Use HQ AMC’s published allowance (other AMC terminals print 2×70 lb / 62 linear / one carry-on + one personal) — confirm on amc.af.mil, do not treat a sister-terminal sentence as Misawa HTML.

PE head tax / cashless: cashless since 14 Jun 2024. No dollar figure on the Misawa HTML. Do not copy Ramstein’s $41.63 here. Confirm at the counter / 72-hour remarks.

Can I travel with pets from here?

Yes as a check-in item. Orders check-in requires pets present if they are traveling (“CHECK-IN CANNOT HAPPEN WITHOUT ALL OF THESE ITEMS”). Accordion: Pet pamphlet (see date conflict above), CDC form, and misawa.af.mil Newcomers / Traveling-with-Pets.

Is this an AMC AFPIMS terminal page?

No. Official source is misawa.af.mil. Use that, not a missing amc.af.mil EUCOM/PACOM clone.

Are January 2026 PDFs good enough?

No. User/rule: dated Jan 2026 PDFs are not current. As of 21 Aug 2026 the icons were 21 AUG 2026 / AUG 2026 files. Re-open the live page.

Is the counter open Saturday for PE?

Published hours are Monday–Friday 0600L–1800L. PE check-in times are on the 72-hour slide. Do not assume a Saturday counter from the workbook’s un-qualified 0600–1800.

Is 226-2852 on the terminal page?

No. Recording is on the wing directory / newcomers book, not the terminal HTML.

Cash for PE head tax?

Terminal is cashless as of 14 June 2024. Bring a card. No dollar figure on the HTML.

Does Misawa Inn have A/C?

AF Inns: air conditioning is not available at Misawa Inn.

USO in the terminal?

Not on the official amenities fact sheet. Do not plan on it.

Which Facebook is official for the board?

Current terminal page does not href a terminal Facebook. Wing MisawaAirBase is not a 72-hour. Dated MisawaPassengerTerminal link in the 2024 welcome book is not on the live terminal HTML.

Bldg 943 or “just the AMC terminal”?

Bldg 943 is on the official 35 FW directory PDF. Terminal HTML uses the ATGHS mailing address only.

Can I sign guests on at Friendship Gate for a PE week?

SOFA escort: three consecutive 24-hour passes, then you need Pass and Registration before the visit for anything longer.

Pet pamphlet 4 Sep 2025 or 05 May 2026?
