Wichita's McConnell Air Force Base runs Space-A flights through an Air Transportation Function, not a full-time passenger terminal. Air Mobility Command lists the site as McConnell AFB ATF. Official base pages identify McConnell as the nation's first KC-46A Pegasus operational base and home of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, which also flies KC-135 Stratotankers. The installation sits in south-central Kansas in a city long tied to U.S. aircraft production.

Where is the passenger terminal?

McConnell Passenger Terminal, Building 1220, McConnell AFB, KS 67221-3622.

Workbook address matches. GPS Bldg 1220, not a generic “McConnell AFB” pin. On base. No published terminal-map URL on the AMC page.

Conflict — stale installation FAQ: mcconnell.af.mil “Frequently Asked Questions” still tells people to sign up at building 1090. Official AMC page wins: Bldg 1220. Treat 1090 as stale.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The AMC McConnell page does not print passenger-gate names. Use mcconnell.af.mil Visitor Center (indexed 27 Aug 2026):

  • East Gate (main entrance): Kansas Street off South Rock Road. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Housing gate: 24/7; alternate housing gate off East 31st Street only when the main housing gate is closed.
  • West Gate (Salina Road): Kansas ANG complex / commercial-vehicle inspection. 0600–1400 Monday–Friday; closed Saturday/Sunday except designated drill weekends; closed holidays and wing down days. Not the passenger-terminal plan.
  • Visitor Center: outside the main gate on Kansas Street, off Rock Road. Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (subject to change). Closed federal holidays and designated down days. Phone (316) 759-4713, DSN 743-4713, 22SFS.S5P@us.af.mil.

CAC / DoD ID holders use an open vehicle-access gate (East Gate is 24/7). Visitors without CAC/DBIDS process at the VCC during VCC hours. A Saturday/holiday roll call with no existing installation access is a planning problem — see after-hours Space-A policy below.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours (AMC page): Monday–Friday 0730–1600. After-hours/weekend/holiday missions are not automatic — see After Hours Roll Call Policy.

Do not publish AMC directory DSN (312) 743-4810 / 5404 as a commercial number. McConnell commercial is 316. Directory DSN 743-xxxx vs page DSN 759-4810 is a flagged prefix split (743 is the common McConnell DSN stem on the Visitor Center page; the AMC contact block prints 759-4810 as DSN). Use (316) 759-4810 commercially.

Directory also bundles 4810 / 5404 on one commercial line; the official page splits them: 4810 = counter, 5404 option 2 = recording.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Email space-a@us.af.mil, or use the HQ AMC Space-A email form and select McConnell AFB KS. McConnell is on the 40-location form.

HQ AMC does not process sign-up. Print the completed form or confirmation and bring it. AMC Travel Self-Signup Tool is available for AMC locations.

How and when do I mark present?

The AMC page does not use “mark present.” Be in person when the Space-A counter opens (3 hours prior to departure). Remote email is not presence.

After hours / weekends / holidays: you must have told the terminal your intent to travel NLT 1500 the duty day prior, or no roll call will be held and the flight can be pulled from advertisement. Calling is not required if roll call falls inside Mon–Fri 0730–1600.

Have ID, orders, and all bags. Park before you compete for a seat.

When is roll call?

Inside duty hours: not printed as a single “N hours prior” clock on the HTML beyond Space-A counter opens 3 hours prior. Use the Roll Call icon / recording for the mission’s time.

After Hours Roll Call Policy (quoted from the AMC page):

  • Applies only to roll calls outside Mon–Fri 0730–1600 (after duty hours, weekends, holidays).
  • Tell them intent to travel NLT 1500 the prior duty day at (316) 759-4810 / DSN 759-4810. Give destination and date so an agent can be scheduled.
  • If no interested passengers by 1500 the duty day prior, the flight is removed from advertisement and a roll call will not be held.

The 16 Jun 2026 Roll Call PDF is dated 15 Jun 2026 — not standing. Recheck the live icon and (316) 759-5404 option 2.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Duty / Space-R (AMC page): Counters open for check-in 6 hours prior. Duty passengers must be in line NLT 3 hours 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Late arrivals go to Customer Service for re-booking, not automatic boarding.

Space-A: Counter opens 3 hours prior.

This page does not publish a PE-specific NLT (no PE product).

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

No PE / 30-day PE product is published. No 30-day icon on the official page.

The AMC page lists normal scheduled flights to: Mildenhall, UK; MacDill AFB, FL; Hickam AFB, HI; Travis AFB, CA; Fairchild AFB, WA; and Elmendorf AFB, AK. Those are organic/tanker-style destinations on the HTML, not a PE city list. Actual missions are on the 72-hour / recording. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

AMC page: Short/long-term parking available outside of Building 1220.

No max-day figure, no pass rule, no RV rule on the HTML. Do not invent one. The McConnell AFB AMC Gram (Quick Links: `MAFB Pax GRAM.pdf`) is the standing-named Gram on the page — read that PDF on the official page for any extra parking rules. If the Gram is silent, call (316) 759-4810.

Not published as a USO / Wi-Fi / shower / locker list on the AMC HTML.

Food (AMC page): Passengers bring their own food or coordinate meals with Flight Kitchen at least 4 hours prior to takeoff. Passenger Service Agents are not responsible for flight meals.

What documents are required?

Duty / space-required: Travel orders and destination documents. Have them on your person.

Space-A: DoDI 4515.13 eligibility. Unaccompanied command-sponsored dependents need whatever letter the live AMC / DoDI rules require — this page does not host a CAT V template.

Stale installation FAQ claims “Pets are not allowed on Space-A flights” and talks about deployed-spouse letters. That FAQ also has the wrong building and old email. Do not treat it as the current pet/eligibility rule. Use the AMC terminal page + DoDI 4515.13 + AMC Pet Travel page.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (AMC page): 2 checked bags per person, 70 lb and 62 linear inches each. One carry-on plus one personal item that fits under a seat.

PE head tax: Not published (no PE product). Do not copy another terminal’s $41.63 here.

Can I travel with pets from here?

The AMC McConnell HTML does not publish a pet-slot policy. The chrome links AMC Pet Travel.

The installation FAQ line “Pets are not allowed on Space-A flights” is on a stale mcconnell.af.mil page (wrong building, old signup). Flagged — not used as verification. Call (316) 759-4810 before you count on a pet space. You own the paperwork.

Where are schedules posted?

On the official AMC McConnell page:

Do I have to call if roll call is Tuesday at 1000?

No. After-hours policy applies only outside Mon–Fri 0730–1600. A Tuesday 1000 roll call is inside duty hours.

What if I want Saturday Space-A and I never called?

Call intent NLT 1500 Friday (the duty day prior). If nobody calls, the flight is pulled and there is no roll call.

Is (316) 759-5404 the counter?

No. 5404 option 2 = 48–72 hour recording. Counter is (316) 759-4810.

Are the 15 Jun 2026 PDFs today’s board?

No. Dated filenames are not standing. Use the recording and the live icons.

Is McConnell a PE gateway to Hickam?

The HTML lists Hickam among normal scheduled flights, alongside Mildenhall, MacDill, Travis, Fairchild, and Elmendorf. That is not a published PE rotator. Open the live 72-hour / recording. This FAQ does not quote seats.

Where do late duty passengers go?

Customer Service for re-booking after the 3h20m NLT.

Can I eat in the terminal?

Bring food or coordinate Flight Kitchen ≥ 4 hours prior. Agents will not own your meal.

Is parking only at Bldg 1220?

Short/long-term parking is published outside Bldg 1220. No max days on the HTML. Check the Gram.

Is Bldg 1090 still the terminal?

No. Official AMC page: Bldg 1220. Installation FAQ 1090 is stale.

May I fax a signup to 759-3011 or email Space-A@mcconnell.af.mil?

Those appear only on the stale installation FAQ. Official channel: space-a@us.af.mil / AMC form / Self-Signup Tool.

Is DSN (312) 743-4810 my cell-phone number?

No. Do not publish (312) as commercial. Dial (316) 759-4810.

Does AF Inns run a shuttle?

AF Inns McConnell lists shuttle service as an amenity on the lodging page. That is lodging, not a terminal–town shuttle promise. Confirm with the front desk (316-759-6999).
