Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, operates a small passenger terminal under the 42nd Logistics Readiness Squadron for Space-A flights. Maxwell occupies the site of the Wright brothers' first U.S. civilian flying school and hosts Air University, the Air Force's professional military education center under Air Education and Training Command. The 42nd Air Base Wing is the host. Gunter Annex is a separate Maxwell-Gunter campus without this airfield function.

Where is the passenger terminal?

Not published. No AMC `/Terminals/` page and no current maxwell.af.mil PAX SOP names a passenger-terminal building or street.

The 6 Feb 2018 “Need a lift?” feature describes a 42nd LRS small passenger terminal and DV/Space-R/Space-A handling. That is unit language, not a traveler SOP and not a facility address. GPS a generic “Maxwell AFB” or Gunter Annex pin is not a terminal pin. Unofficial building listings are flagged unofficial.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

There is no PAX-terminal page to print a passenger gate. From official maxwell.af.mil Base Access Information (search-indexed 27 Aug 2026; direct fetch 403):

Visitor Control Center: next to the Maxwell Boulevard Gate. Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; closed weekends and federal holidays. Phone 334-953-4283. During VCC closures, passes can be acquired at the Maxwell Blvd Main Gate or Cong Dickenson Gate at Gunter Annex. Guests who will drive on base: vehicle registration and proof of insurance when obtaining the pass. REAL ID (or listed alternative) required for visitor passes beginning 7 May 2025 (maxwell.af.mil REAL ID article; same VCC 1-(334)-953-4283 / 42sfs.vcc.max@us.af.mil).

Kelly St Gate (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Gate) on that same fact sheet: Monday–Friday 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. — 0600–0800 inbound only; 0800–1400 inbound and outbound; 1400–1800 outbound only. Peak traffic note: 7:45–8:15 a.m.

POV gate-status table is not in the truncated Base Access snippet. Official 4 Aug 2022 HPCON / Base Services Reductions article (dated) printed:

Treat the 2022 Day Street “closed until further notice” line as dated unless the live Base Access fact sheet republishes it. VCC fact sheet still names Maxwell Blvd Main Gate for after-hours passes. Confirm with 334-953-4283 before a weekend show.

Visit Center spotlight (official news): visitors must be sponsored by a DoD ID cardholder and run through DBIDS; team clock quoted 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every weekday (matches VCC fact sheet).

CAC / DoD ID holders use an open vehicle-access gate. VCC hours are not Space-A counter hours.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours: Not published. Homepage-only / Telephone Directory with no PAX clock. 2018 “Need a lift?” and 2020 holiday-hours articles are not standing terminal hours. Gate 24/7 and lodging clocks are not the passenger desk. Do not copy unofficial 0800–1600 directories.

The 2018 article also points at the Maxwell Passenger Terminal Facebook for “upcoming flights.” That URL is already stored as the official Facebook schedule channel. Login wall ≠ inactivity. Do not archive posts and do not quote a live board from Facebook here.

There is no current local field list, QR, or walk-in SOP on official HTML.

How and when do I mark present?

Not published on a current SOP. Remote email is not presence. The 2018 article says active duty need leave approval paperwork and CAC (and recommends passports for family if the hop requires them) — that is eligibility language, not a show-time clock. Do not invent a counter-open time.

When is roll call?

Not published. No roll-call product, PDF, or “N hours prior” line on maxwell.af.mil or live AMC.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Not published. No PE check-in clock. This location is not advertised as a Patriot Express gateway. Duty/PCS still work through TMO, not the Space-A mailbox.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Not published as a PE gateway. No 30-day PE icon, no AMC `/Terminals/` page. The 2018 feature describes leftover seats on organic / DV support missions — not a rotator. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published as PAX parking. Do not invent a max-day figure. Visitor Center news says maps are handed out in person — no official traveler/terminal map URL.

No. Homepage fallback. The 6 Feb 2018 feature is dated news, not hours or a building pin. It does officially link the Facebook URL already stored in the workbook.

2022 official table: Day Street CLOSED until further notice. VCC closed weekends. After-hours passes: Maxwell Blvd Main Gate (fact sheet) if you need a pass. CAC holders: confirm Blvd is open with VCC 334-953-4283.

Maxwell Blvd 24/7 in 2022 — still true?

VCC fact sheet still names Blvd Main Gate for after-hours passes. The 24/7 cell is on the dated 2022 gate-status table. Confirm with VCC. VCC itself is not 24/7 (0730–1630 weekdays).

University Inn 2055 or 3931?

Both official. Temporary Lodging / directory central reservations 334-953-2055 Option 1. AF Inns Maxwell property 3931 / 7544 / 1690. Gunter is a second campus (directory 416-5501; AF Inns Gunter 416-2501 / 270-4000).

Is Gunter Annex the Space-A terminal?
