Travelers use the Joint Base Andrews passenger terminal in Maryland for Space-A flights on organic and special-mission airlift near the National Capital Region. The 89th Airlift Wing, an Air Mobility Command tenant, provides Special Air Mission airlift, logistics, aerial port, and communications for the president, vice president, cabinet members, and other senior leaders. This is an on-base AMC passenger terminal, not a commercial-airport gateway. The installation is at Camp Springs, a short drive from Washington, D.C., which distinguishes Andrews from the BWI AMC gateway.

Where is the passenger terminal?

1245 Menoher Dr., Joint Base Andrews, MD 20762. GPS Menoher Drive, not a generic “Andrews AFB” or “Air Force One” pin. The AMC page does not publish a public terminal-map URL.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

This terminal is on the installation. CAC / DoD ID holders use a vehicle-access gate.

Joint Base Andrews Visitor Control Center page (official jba.af.mil; live fetch 403, content 27 Aug 2026):

  • Main Gate: open 24/7
  • Other gates (Virginia, Pearl Harbor, West pedestrian, North) have limited hours that change; the VCC page also carried dated 29–30 June lane notes. Do not memorize a blog’s gate table.
  • Unofficial visitors: request access in advance. VCC recommends emailing 316.SPT.Visitor.Center@us.af.mil at least 3 days (72 hours) prior. Passes 5 days or less may go on the Base Access List; longer than 5 days: report to the VCC for a hard-copy pass. REAL ID-compliant ID (or other accepted ID / U.S. passport) required.

  • Same-day unofficial guests without credentials process at the VCC (or meet the sponsor at Main Gate after hours, per that page)

Do not assume a taxi can roll onto the ramp. Confirm gates on https://www.jba.af.mil/Resources/Visitor-Control-Center/ before you drive.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours: 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily (0530–2200). The terminal opens 2 hours and 20 minutes before departures and 30 minutes before arrivals scheduled outside normal hours.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Email amc.spacea@us.af.mil, use the HQ AMC Space-A email form and select JB Andrews MD, or the Self-Signup Tool. Active-duty members must be on leave status to sign up.

HQ AMC does not process sign-up. Print confirmation and bring it. The page does not print a local fax on the June 2026 snapshot (older unofficial directories list 301-981-7671 — not verified on the current page).

How and when do I mark present?

The AMC Andrews page does not print a Space-A mark-present window (no “24 hours prior” sentence on this page). HQ AMC FAQs (general) allow marking present up to 24 hours before roll call at the counter — that is command-level, not Andrews-specific. Confirm at the three Passenger Service counters.

Remote sign-up is not “present.” Have orders, passports, and bags with you.

When is roll call?

Duty standby and Space-A roll calls are at the AMC ticket counter 3 hours before departure, unless the current schedule states otherwise. Verify the time using the live 72-hour schedule and 7-day / Roll Call links on the official Joint Base Andrews passenger terminal page. Flights and roll-call times can change without notice.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Duty on travel orders: check in at one of the three Passenger Service counters in the terminal. Counters open 6 hours prior to departure. Be in line NLT 2 hours 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Late arrivals go to Customer Service for rebooking (or as PCS orders instruct).

The Andrews page does not publish a PE-specific “1800 the day before” check-in. If a PE mission is on the 72-hour board, use the times printed there.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Not identified as a PE gateway on the official Andrews page. The page lists baggage rules by organic / DV aircraft type (C-12, C-21, C-9, C-40, C-5, C-17, KC-135, C-130, C-37, C-20). It does not name PE cities.

Joint Base Lindsey Graham’s page lists Andrews as one of its primary Space-A destinations — that is Lindsey Graham’s wording, not an Andrews PE schedule. Check the live 72-hour PDF. Do not plan a hop from a blog.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Printed on the AMC Andrews page:

  • Short-term: authorized up to 6 days. Vehicles left after 6 days will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Long-term: 7 days or greater.
  • The terminal assumes NO LIABILITY for theft or damage to vehicles or belongings in either lot.

The page does not print row numbers, a map, RV rules, or a 60-day cap. Ask the counter which lot is which.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

On base (Air Force Inns only, checked 27 Aug 2026):

Do not use unofficial “Presidential Inn” as the booking name unless AF Inns reprints it (the live property title is Joint Base Andrews).

Off-base: The June 2026 AMC Andrews snapshot does not link an AMC Gram and does not print a hotel list. Book eligibility yourself. Nightly rates are not published here.

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

The AMC Andrews page does not document a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, or lockers. It does state this is a card-only terminal for meals or head tax (so some food-for-pay exists, but hours/menu are unpublished).

A historic USO-Metro story described a lounge at the Andrews passenger terminal with then-hours 0800–1600 and phone 301-981-4686. Current hours were not found on an official USO location page as of 27 Aug 2026. Do not treat 2010 opening hours as today’s hours. Ask at the counter if a lounge is open.

What documents are required?

Duty / space-required: Travel orders; check in at the three Passenger Service counters.

Space-A: DoDI 4515.13 eligibility, leave status for active duty, passports/visas as required, Foreign Clearance Guide for OCONUS. Bring sign-up confirmation.

Base access: REAL ID or passport plus VCC processing if you lack a CAC / dependent ID. Plan 72 hours if you need a visitor pass.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (AMC Andrews page) — by aircraft:

  • C-12, C-21: 70 lbs total baggage weight per passenger
  • C-9, C-40: two bags not to exceed 40 lbs total per passenger
  • C-5, C-17, KC-135, C-130: 70 lbs per bag, 2 bags per passenger
  • C-37 and C-20: 1 bag at 50 lbs and 1 carry-on at 20 lbs

See an AMC passenger representative for complete requirements. Do not assume a 2×70 / 62-linear PE bag rule on a C-40 or C-21.

Fees: HTML page does not print a dollar head tax. It does say card only — cash will not be accepted for meals or head tax. If a head tax is assessed, bring a card.

Can I travel with pets from here?

Not published on the AMC Andrews page. HQ AMC FAQs: Space-A passengers are not permitted to ship pets; pet travel is for PCS orders (max 2 pets per family). Use https://www.amc.af.mil/AMC-Travel-Site/AMC-Pet-Travel-Page/ and ask this terminal before you count on a slot.

What is the Joint Base Andrews passenger terminal phone number?

Call (301) 981-1854 for the passenger service counter. Call (301) 981-3604, option 2 for the 72-hour flight recording. DSN users can call 858-1854 for the counter or 858-3604 for the recording.

How late can I show if the terminal is “closed”?

If a departure is outside 0530–2200, the page says the terminal opens 2 hours 20 minutes before that departure (and 30 minutes before an off-hours arrival). Still be in the duty line NLT 2+20 before departure.

Is this a PE gateway like SeaTac or Norfolk?

Not on the official page. Expect organic / DV airlift unless the 72-hour PDF says otherwise.

Can I pay cash for a meal or head tax?

No. Card-only.

How long can I leave a car?

Short-term ≤6 days or it is towed. Long-term is 7 days or greater — the page does not print an upper bound. Ask the counter.

Is AF Inns on California Avenue the right inn?

Yes. That is the matching Air Force Inns property for Joint Base Andrews (1380 California Ave., 301-909-8987). Mission bumping is published on that lodging page.

What if I’m a retiree without base access at 0500?

Main Gate is 24/7 for authorized IDs. Unofficial visitors still need VCC / BAL. VCC is not a 24-hour walk-up for a brand-new pass. Start the email request 72 hours out.

Do C-40 bag rules match C-17 bag rules?

No. C-9/C-40: 40 lbs total. C-17: 70 lbs × 2. Read the aircraft on the 72-hour board.

Is there a Gram?

Not linked on the 16 Jun 2026 snapshot. Do not use a 2015 unofficial Gram.

Joint Base Lindsey Graham lists Andrews as a primary destination — does that mean daily PE?

It means Joint Base Lindsey Graham historically moves a lot of Space-A bodies toward Andrews and Ramstein. It is not an Andrews timetable. Read Andrews’ own 72-hour PDF.
