Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in central New Jersey is the Department of Defense's only tri-service joint base, combining the former McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix, and Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst. Travelers use the AMC passenger terminal here for Space-A flights. The 305th Air Mobility Wing and 305th Aerial Port Squadron are based on the McGuire side. This East Coast joint-base terminal is not a New York or Philadelphia civilian airport.

Where is the passenger terminal?

1706 Vandenberg Ave, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ 08641.

GPS that street address, not a generic “McGuire AFB” or Fort Dix pin. The AMC page does not publish a terminal map URL. The February 2025 AMC Gram (linked from the terminal page) lists Building 1706 as the passenger terminal.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The AMC MDL terminal page does not print gate names or gate hours.

CAC / DoD ID holders use a vehicle-access gate. Visitors without a CAC or military dependent ID need installation visitor processing. JB MDL’s official Welcome Center Information page states that as of 8 May 2025 all visitors must comply with the REAL ID Act (or use another accepted ID such as a U.S. passport).

Conflict (official pages): Welcome Center Information still banners “McGuire Welcome Center Closed Indefinitely” (3021 McGuire Blvd; (609) 754-3003 / 3938). The Newcomers Welcome page still prints McGuire Welcome Center hours 0600–1800 Mon–Fri and 0700–1800 Sat–Sun, phone (609) 754-3938, plus Dix (609) 562-6601 and Lakehurst (732) 323-2693 weekday hours. Do not assume you can process a visitor pass at 0500 on a Saturday. Confirm which Welcome Center is actually open before you drive.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours: 0700–0000 (0700EST–0000EST), effective 15 Mar 2023, printed on the live AMC page (stamp 01 August 2026 at 0515L EST). Workbook lead 0700-0000 matches. The terminal is not published as 24/7 on the official page (older unofficial writeups that say 24/7 are stale).

Conflict: The live AMC passenger-terminal directory (captured 27 Aug 2026) lists commercial (609) 754-5023 / 9950. The terminal page itself prints only 609-754-5023 and does not label 9950. Use the page’s service-counter number. Do not treat 9950 as a second desk unless the terminal tells you what it is.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Email 305.APS.McGuire.Space.A@us.af.mil, use the HQ AMC Space-A email form and select JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst NJ, or mail the terminal at 1706 Vandenberg Ave (February 2025 Gram). HQ AMC also states a Travel Self-Signup Tool for AMC locations.

HQ AMC does not process sign-up; the terminal does. The AMC form warns that the terminal may not receive the email because of technical issues. Print the completed form or your confirmation and bring it. If you do not get a confirmation, verify at the service counter that they have you.

How and when do I mark present?

The AMC MDL page does not print a Space-A “mark present” window.

Duty / space-required passengers must be in line NLT the roll-call times listed on the site. Late arrivals are sent to Customer Service for rebooking (or as PCS orders instruct). Remote sign-up is not “present.” Have passports, orders, and all bags with you when you process.

When is roll call?

Not published as a fixed clock time on the AMC MDL page. Duty passengers are told to use the roll-call times listed on site.

Verify NLT and roll-call times on the 72-Hour schedule icon (Wayback 9 Aug 2026 snapshot linked a file named MCGUIRE_72HRS_SLIDES_08AUGUST26_0500L.pdf) and the 7-day / Roll Call icon (MCGUIRE_7DAYS_SLIDES_07AUGUST26_1202L.pdf). Those filenames change. All flights can change or delay without notice.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Space-required duty: Passenger Service Counters are open for check-in up to 24 hours prior to departure. Be in line NLT roll call as posted.

The AMC MDL page does not publish a separate Patriot Express check-in clock (no “1800 the day before” style PE rule on this page). If a PE mission appears on the 72-hour board, use the times printed there — do not import another terminal’s PE show time.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Not identified on the official AMC MDL page (Wayback latest 200: 9 Aug 2026, live snippets 27 Aug 2026). The page describes Space-A and space-required duty processing on organic/AMC missions. It does not name PE destinations.

Do not plan a hop from a blog rumor. If a PE or rotator appears, it will be on the live 72-hour / 7-day icons. Seats are never guaranteed.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published on the AMC MDL terminal page.

Unofficial Space-A writeups describe a 30-day lot next to the terminal after you are selected. That is a lead only, not verification. Ask the service counter when you are selected; do not invent a fitness-center lot or a 30-day cap from a blog.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

On base (Air Force Inns only, checked 27 Aug 2026):

Nightly rates are not published here.

Do not treat “All American Inn” / “Doughboy Inn” blog names as the booking name; book the AF Inns properties above.

Off-base: The February 2025 AMC Gram lists several local hotels (Home2 Suites Bordentown, Comfort Inn Westhampton, Hilton Garden Inn Hamilton, etc.) with an explicit no-endorsement disclaimer. Book eligibility and pet rules yourself. Nightly rates are not published here.

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

The AMC MDL page does not document a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, or lockers.

USO conflict: USO Pennsylvania and New Jersey’s directory still lists 1706 Vandenberg Avenue, AMC Passenger Terminal, phone +1 609-754-1154. USO New Jersey’s location page instead places the JBMDL center at 5601 Texas Ave on the Fort Dix side (dated week-of-29-Jun-2026 hours on that page; not standing clock hours). Do not assume a lounge inside Building 1706. Confirm on https://nj.uso.org/jbmdl or https://paandnj.uso.org/jbmdl before you count on snacks, Wi-Fi, or showers.

Treat terminal lockers as unpublished.

What documents are required?

Duty / space-required: Funded travel orders. The MDL page does not reprint Norfolk’s “paper copy only” banner; still bring a complete, legible copy you can hand over.

Space-A: Eligibility under DoDI 4515.13, plus passports/visas as required by destination, and Foreign Clearance Guide / Force Health Protection rules. Bring your sign-up confirmation.

Minors (MDL page): The terminal must validate parental and/or legal guardianship. Proof of sponsorship example: DD Form 1172-2 via the installation Military Personnel Office. Dependents aged 14 and above must have an ID card IAW DoDI 4515.13. Dependents under 14 may travel with alternative government-issued ID in the dependent’s name (raised-seal birth certificate from city/county/state — not a hospital certificate; passport when the Foreign Clearance Guide requires it).

Base access (no CAC / dependent ID): REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID, or U.S. passport, plus Welcome Center / visitor processing.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (AMC MDL page): 2 checked bags per person, 70 lb and 62 linear inches each. One carry-on plus one personal item that must fit under any aircraft seat.

Fees: The AMC MDL page does not print a Space-A head tax or pet/excess-bag tariff. Do not import another terminal’s $23.40 figure.

Can I travel with pets from here?

The AMC MDL page does not print local pet-counter rules. Pet travel in general is on the AMC Pet Travel page: https://www.amc.af.mil/AMC-Travel-Site/AMC-Pet-Travel-Page/

You own the paperwork (microchip, shots, border rules, DD Form 2208 / 2209 or civilian equivalents). HQ AMC FAQs state Space-A pet shipment is not authorized and pet travel is for passengers on PCS orders; confirm with this terminal before you count on a pet slot.

On the official AMC MDL page icons (not a terminal Facebook link on that page):

Is the terminal 24/7?

No. Official hours are 0700–0000 effective 15 Mar 2023, restated on the 01 August 2026 stamp. Unofficial “open 24/7” blurbs are stale.

Which phone is the desk?

609-754-5023. Directory “/ 9950” is not labeled on the terminal page. Do not call DSN (312) as a commercial number.

Can I sign up with the old wripax@mcguire.af.mil address?

That mailbox appears only on unofficial directories. Official page and live AMC directory use 305.APS.McGuire.Space.A@us.af.mil.

Is there Patriot Express to Europe from here?

Not on the official MDL page. Do not build a Ramstein itinerary from a blog. Check the live 72-hour PDF.

Is Navy Lakehurst lodging next to the terminal?

No. That is a separate AF Inns property in Lakehurst. McGuire-side lodging is Bldg 2786 Mitchell Road; call (609) 754-4667.

What if I don’t have a CAC and I’m a retiree trying to Space-A?

You still need base access: REAL ID or passport, and Welcome Center processing if the gate requires a visitor pass. Welcome Center hours/status conflict on two official JB MDL pages (see gates). A Saturday 0500 roll call is a planning problem if you do not already have installation access.

Does the USO sit in the passenger terminal?

Do not assume that. AMC does not list it. USO NJ currently points to 5601 Texas Ave (Fort Dix); the PA/NJ directory still prints 1706 Vandenberg. Confirm before you walk in expecting snacks.

Where do I find the 72-hour board?

The airplane / 72-hour icon on the official AMC MDL page. Not Facebook (no terminal Facebook linked there).

Are cash payments documented?

Not on the MDL page. Do not assume card-only or cash-only from another terminal.

What about BWI — is that the same 305th APS?

BWI is Det 1 of 305 APS, a different Patriot Express gateway with its own page, phone, and email. Do not mix BWI show times or PE rules into a McGuire trip.
