Travelers use the Dyess AFB air-terminal function in Abilene, Texas, a Non-AMC CONUS location on Air Mobility Command's directory. The 7th Bomb Wing, Air Force Global Strike Command, hosts the base and runs the Air Force's only B-1B formal training unit. The 317th Airlift Wing shares the same West Texas field with C-130J Super Hercules airlift. That bomber-plus-tactical-airlift mix is what distinguishes Dyess Space-A flights from other CONUS fighter or tanker stops.

Where is the passenger terminal?

Street address and building number: Not published on dyess.af.mil (homepage or Contact-Us Directory) or on the live AMC Non-AMC CONUS row.

The installation directory lists Passenger (PAX) Terminal / Space-A as a phone-book line only. On base. GPS a generic “Dyess AFB” pin is not a terminal pin. No official terminal-map URL.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

Gate names and gate hours are not printed on the AMC directory row, the Dyess homepage, or the Contact-Us Directory.

From dyess.af.mil Contact-Us Directory (search-indexed 27 Aug 2026): Visitor Center (325) 696-2432. That line does not print VCC clock hours or which gate to use.

Do not treat the Dyess Welcome Center (7th FSS, Bldg 7402) as the VCC. A 29 Aug 2022 dyess.af.mil photo caption placed that Welcome Center at Bldg 7402, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. or by appointment — a 2022 FSS newcomer facility, not a published passenger-gate plan.

A 16 Dec 2021 dyess.af.mil article describes a renovated Visitor Control Center at the main gate without printing current hours. CAC / DoD ID holders use an open vehicle-access gate. Visitors without current installation access: call the Visitor Center before you drive. Do not invent a 24/7 main-gate clock from blogs.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

How do I sign up for Space-A?

HQ AMC does not process sign-up. The 40-location AMC form does not list Dyess. Print any confirmation and bring it. If you get no confirmation, use the directory phone — do not assume a walk-up counter is staffed.

How and when do I mark present?

Not published on a current Dyess terminal SOP page (none exists). Remote email is not presence. Call (325) 696-6095 / 6092 for that mission’s show time. Have documents and bags with you.

A 4 May 2018 AMC feature described check-in ID practice at Dyess. Workbook/advisory: those 2018 ID rules are not re-verified as current SOP. Do not treat them as 2026 standing procedure.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

Not published as a PE gateway. No 30-day PE board. Treat as organic / 317th AW C-130J leftovers when the mission and cargo load allow. Do not plan a PE hop from Dyess from a blog. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

A 4 May 2018 AMC feature (photo dated 4 May 2018) described 7 LRS processing passengers while the 317th Airlift Wing notifies leftover seats on C-130J Super Hercules. That is unit-identity context, not a 2026 route list.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published. There is no dedicated passenger-terminal SOP page listing amenities. Do not plan showers, lockers, or a snack bar from unofficial directories.

The 7th MSG fact sheet describes a base taxi fleet as unit mission language, not a published traveler taxi SOP to the PAX terminal. Not used as a Space-A shuttle.

What documents are required?

Space-A: Eligibility under DoDI 4515.13. Bring sign-up proof. Have ID, orders/leave, and passports/visas as required on your person.

A 4 May 2018 AMC Dyess feature printed two-ID check-in language (CAC + driver’s license; children without a CAC: printed DEERS form with DoD ID number). Workbook/advisory: not re-verified as current SOP. Confirm with 7 LRS before you travel.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Can I travel with pets from here?

Welcome Center Mon/Tue/Thu — is that VCC for a Sunday show?

No. That 2022 caption is the FSS Welcome Center (Bldg 7402), not published VCC/gate hours. Sunday access without a pass is a planning problem — call (325) 696-2432.

Are seats leftover after cargo on every C-130J?

No guarantee. Workbook/advisory and the 2018 AMC feature both warn cargo / hazardous cargo / status changes can remove seats.
