Detachment 1 of the 730th Air Mobility Squadron runs the AMC passenger terminal on Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia, a coral atoll in the British Indian Ocean Territory. Official Navy pages place the island seven degrees south of the equator in the Chagos Archipelago and nickname it the Footprint of Freedom. Space-A flights here support logistics for this isolated Indian Ocean support facility, not a typical Pacific fighter station.

Where is the passenger terminal?

AMC Diego Garcia Passenger Terminal, FPO AP 96595, British Indian Ocean Territory (B.I.O.T).

That is a mail/FPO line, not a street you can GPS. The AMC page does not publish a building number or a terminal-map URL. The island is a restricted location (official business / APACS — see documents). Do not invent a pin.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The AMC Diego Garcia page does not print gate names or gate hours. There is no public commercial airport. Access is installation-controlled. Do not invent a downtown-to-terminal driving plan.

Buses “are available from Downtown area to Passenger Terminal vice versa” (AMC page). Base taxi (page): 370-2771 / 370-2770 (no country-code printed on that line).

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours (AMC page): 24/7. Banner: “We are open 24/7.”

Phone — print all; do not silently pick 370 vs 371.

Live HTML currently prints 370-2795 commercial and 371-2745 DSN — an intra-page prefix mismatch. Older official captures used 371-2795 commercial to match DSN 371-2745. Directory DSN still lists 370-2795/2745. Do not silently merge these into one number. Confirm with the counter.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Email 730AMS.DET1.PAX@US.AF.MIL, or use the HQ AMC Space-A email form and select NA Diego Garcia.

HQ AMC does not process sign-up. The AMC form warns the terminal may not receive the email. Print the completed form or confirmation and bring it. AMC also announced a Travel Self-Signup Tool for AMC locations — use whichever channel the live AMC Space-A page is pointing to the day you sign up.

Leave travel to Diego Garcia is not authorized. Signing up from CONUS does not create an entry clearance.

How and when do I mark present?

The AMC page does not use the phrase “mark present.” Remote email sign-up is not presence. Be at the terminal for roll call with documents and all bags.

Outbound: check in 6 hours prior; NLT 2 hours 20 minutes prior.

When is roll call?

2 hours and 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure, unless the 72-hour product says otherwise.

The page warns: due to technical difficulties from a website update, the 72-Hr Flight Schedule and 24-Roll Call Report may not be up to date. Call or email the terminal. All flights are subject to change without prior notice.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Outbound passengers can check in 6 hours prior and must be in NLT 2 hours 20 minutes prior.

Duty passengers are those booked through TMO/SATO (PCS, TDY, deployment). Exact PE NLT is on that day’s board, not as a second standing clock on the HTML.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

The page publishes 72-hour, roll-call, and 30-day icons and states: “Our flights serve bases in East Coast and West Coast locations.” That is a coast list, not this week’s city board.

PE from Norfolk: NSF Diego Garcia appears as a tariff / PE destination on the official NS Norfolk AMC Gram (June 2026) and on Norfolk’s PE products. That is the Norfolk end, not a promise this week’s rotator leaves DG. A DiegoGarcia_30DayPE_JAN2026.pdf was linked on the Jan 2026 Wayback capture — dated; not current. Do not quote that PDF’s cities or seats.

Unofficial blogs (Poppin’ Smoke, spaceaterminal.com) listing Norfolk–Bahrain–DG–Djibouti — flagged unofficial. Check the live icons and email the terminal. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published on the official AMC HTML page (no POV lot / day cap). This is an island with no privately imported tourist cars in the usual CONUS sense. Ask the counter; do not invent a long-term lot.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

On base (official NGIS page, checked 27 Aug 2026):

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

Published on the AMC page (not a USO block):

  • Beverage vending outside the terminal
  • Snack bar in the departure lounge: Sunday 0500L until Saturday 1800L
  • ATM inside the terminal
  • No money changer on Diego Garcia

Showers and lockers are not published. USO is not listed on the AMC HTML.

What documents are required?

Leave travel to Diego Garcia is not authorized.

All personnel traveling to Diego Garcia must have an approved APACS (Aircraft and Personnel Automated Clearance System) before arrival. POC on the AMC page: NSFDGAdminofficer@fe.navy.mil. Also Foreign Clearance Guide.

Civilians (with the exceptions printed on the page: DoD civilians, government-contracted civilians, merchant mariners, other government employees on existing contracts) should start at least 4 weeks prior.

Duty: funded orders via TMO/SATO. Space-A: DoDI 4515.13 eligibility plus those entry rules — leisure Space-A into DG is not an authorized leave destination on this page.

Have documents on your person.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (AMC page): 2 checked bags per person, 70 lb and 62 linear inches each. One carry-on not to exceed 45 linear inches plus one personal item that fits under a seat.

Unattended bags will be confiscated. Notify an agent if you see one.

Space-A / PE head tax: not printed on the Diego Garcia AMC HTML. (Norfolk’s Gram lists FIS/head-tax figures for DG as a Norfolk tariff — that is the Norfolk page, not this one.) Do not invent a DG-counter fee.

Can I travel with pets from here?

The AMC page links AMC Pet Travel in the chrome. It does not publish a DG-specific pet-slot policy. Confirm with the terminal before you count on a pet space. You own destination paperwork.

On the official AMC Diego Garcia page (not Facebook as an official DG terminal source):

Can I Space-A here on leave just to see the island?

No. The AMC page repeats: Leave travel to Diego Garcia is not authorized. NGIS: official business only (leisure only for MSC / on-island residents).

Which phone do I actually dial — 370-2795 or 371-2795?

Do not silently pick. Live page commercial 370-2795; live DSN 371-2745; older official captures commercial 371-2795; directory DSN also lists 370-2795/2745. Confirm with the terminal. Base taxi on the same page uses the 370- prefix.

Is 730amsdet1.spaceavailable@us.af.mil the signup mailbox?

That is the directory address. The terminal page prints 730AMS.DET1.PAX@US.AF.MIL. Flagged conflict; use the page.

Is this a PE stop from Norfolk?

Norfolk’s official 2026 Gram treats NSF Diego Garcia as a PE tariff destination. DG’s own page does not name Norfolk. Confirm the current PE/72-hour products on both terminals. Not a weekly promise.

Snack bar on Sunday night?

Snack bar: Sunday 0500L through Saturday 1800L. That string is one continuous window as printed, not “Sunday only.” If you need food after 1800 Saturday, the page does not promise the snack bar.

Can I change dollars or pounds on island?

No money changer on Diego Garcia (AMC page). ATM inside the terminal.

How do I get from downtown NGIS to the terminal?

Buses downtown ↔ terminal; base taxi 370-2771 / 370-2770. No walking-time published.

May 2022 AMC Gram still current?

Dated. Linked from the page for history; do not treat 2022 lodging/phone lines as current if they disagree with the HTML / NGIS.

Is Facebook an official DG schedule?

The AMC page does not link a Diego Garcia passenger-terminal Facebook. Unofficial directory/Facebook URLs are leads only.

APACS four weeks — does that apply to military on orders?

The four-week line is written for civilian passengers, with printed exceptions for DoD civilians / contractors / mariners / other government employees on existing contracts. Everyone still needs approved APACS before arrival. FCG + the admin officer mailbox.

DSN 315 vs 312?

Printed DSN prefix here is 315. Do not publish (312) as commercial.

Signup form name?

HQ AMC form lists this location as NA Diego Garcia.
