Space-A flights at Charlotte Air National Guard Base use the North Carolina Air National Guard passenger terminal, identified in official 145th Airlift Wing news as the David Small Air Terminal. The 145th Airlift Wing flies C-17 Globemaster III aircraft after converting from C-130s in 2017. The 145th Logistics Readiness Squadron air transportation function processes outbound passengers. This is an ANG terminal, not an AMC gateway, and it is distinct from Pope Army Airfield.

Where is the passenger terminal?

NCANG Passenger Terminal, 145th LRS Air Transportation Flight, 4930 Minuteman Way, Charlotte, NC 28208. Passenger Terminal Building 5.

Workbook address matches. GPS Bldg 5 / 4930 Minuteman Way, not a generic “Charlotte Douglas” pin. On the ANG base (CLT is about three miles away — official page). The Space-A HTML does not publish a terminal-map URL.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The Space-A page does not print gate names or gate hours. Departure-day steps: report in person to personnel at Passenger Terminal (Bldg. 5). Returning pax go to the base gym for the vehicle or to the front gate to leave. Transportation from the flight line to the gym or front gate is not available.

Ride-sharing / commercial cars: Access is prohibited for taxis, Uber, and Lyft. 145th AW does not provide ground transportation on or off base. Connecting commercial flights: arrange your own ride to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), ~three miles.

Pass & Registration on Contact Us: 704-391-4217. Auto attendant / operator 704-391-4100. Public Affairs clock (Mon–Fri 0730–1600) is not a Space-A walk-in clock. Gate hours are not published. How do I sign up for Space-A?

Signup method (workbook / official practice): Phone. Missions are announced on (704) 391-4135. Passenger Service (704) 391-4118.

The Space-A page also labels “Website: 145th ATF Space-A sign up” and “QR Code: 145th AW /ATF AMC Gram.” Those labels do not print a mailbox or a Gram PDF URL. Do not invent the QR target. AMC Gram URL = Not published.

Sign-up expiration (official page):

  • Active Duty/AGR: must be in a leave or pass status to register and travel.
  • Drill Status Guardsman: can sign up at any time; expires after 60 days.
  • Retired & all others: can sign up at any time; expires 60 days from the initial date.

Wing news: sign up 60 days in advance. Charlotte is not on the HQ AMC 40-location email form. HQ AMC does not process sign-up. Print whatever confirmation the PSA gives you. This FAQ did not call or email.

How and when do I mark present?

The page does not use the phrase “mark present.” Once roll call has begun, only passengers who are present will be considered. No additional passengers will be added. Remote phone sign-up is not presence.

Departure day (official table): (1) report to Bldg. 5; (2) check in and drop bags with a PSA; (3) if parking, register the vehicle with the PSA (Parking Permit QR) — permit must be on the dashboard; (4) park in the gym / fitness-center lot; (5) return to the Passenger Holding Area in Bldg. 5; (6) at the announced time the PSA begins roll call — come forward to screening with all required documents.

Have documents on your person. Allow time to arrive, check in, drop bags, and get the parking permit before roll call.

When is roll call?

Not published as a standing “N hours prior.” Roll call is in person in the Bldg. 5 holding area at the announced time. No roll-call PDF URL. Call the recording (704) 391-4135. This FAQ does not quote live showtimes.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Not published as a separate PE/duty NLT (this is not a PE gateway). Use the departure-day Bldg. 5 steps and the recording. Late arrivals after roll call starts are not added. Duty/PCS still work through orders / TMO — do not mix that with the Space-A PSA 4118.

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

No. C-17 organic / mission-dependent. No 30-day PE icon. Max 15 Space-A passengers per flight is a capacity cap, not today’s board. The 145th cannot guarantee connecting flights after the first destination. Do not plan a PE hop from Charlotte from a blog. This FAQ does not quote live seats.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Gym / fitness-center parking lot only, with a PSA parking permit on the dashboard. Vehicles in unauthorized lots may be towed. 145th AW is not liable for theft or damage. Max days: not published — do not invent one.

Ride-share/taxi/Uber/Lyft cannot come on base. No shuttle to CLT.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

On base: none published. Air Force Inns directory (27 Aug 2026) has no Charlotte ANGB / 145 AW property. ANG rule: matching af.dodlodging.net only — Not published.

Off-base: Not listed on the Space-A HTML. No rates published here. SHOPPETTE is permanently closed (Contact Us) — that is not lodging.

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

Not published as a terminal amenities list. Holding area in Bldg. 5 is printed; wifi/snacks/showers/lockers are not. SHOPPETTE permanently closed. Do not invent a snack bar.

What documents are required?

Duty / space-required: travel orders and destination documents (passports, visas, FCG). Have them on your person. PSA will request documents at show time.

Space-A: DoDI 4515.13. Official page examples (not all-inclusive): CAT I CAC + emergency leave; CAT II CAC + EML; CAT III CAC + leave (e.g. AF Form 988); CAT IV CAC + unaccompanied EML; CAT V CAC + permissive TDY; CAT VI varies (Reservist: CAC & DD Form 1853; retiree: USID). OCONUS: FCG; a military passport may not be accepted for leisure to some locations. All passengers: valid government-issued ID; ID checked against the final manifest before boarding.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (official page): Space-A passengers are allowed baggage each not exceeding 70 pounds. Excess baggage is not authorized. Every bag needs an ID tag with current phone and forwarding address. Remove old destination tags. The live HTML is missing a clean bag-count word (“allowed to bag”); do not invent “2 bags.” TSA / federal search of pax and bags.

PE / head-tax fees: not published (not a PE gateway). Do not copy another terminal’s $41.63.

Can I travel with pets from here?

Is there a walk-in counter clock?

Not listed on the official Space-A page. Staffing is mission / recording. Do not copy another ANG 0700–1530 onto Charlotte.

Which number — 4118 or 4135?

4118 = Passenger Service Section (matches AMC commercial). 4135 = 24-hour recording / mission announcements (wing news also points schedule callers here). Do not treat them as one line.

Why is DSN 231-4138 if the recording is 4135?

Did the terminal actually reopen?

Official news / DVIDS (Date Taken 31 Jan 2026): outbound Space-A opens 1 Feb 2026 after a five-year reconstruction (C-130 → C-17). As of 27 Aug 2026 that date is past. Confirm missions on 4135 — this FAQ does not promise seats.

Can I use the HQ AMC email form?

Where exactly is roll call?

Is 15 a guaranteed seat count?

No. It is a max. Cargo and required troops first; not every flight releases Space-A. Connections not guaranteed.

Can I park at the terminal curb overnight?

Park in the gym/fitness-center lot with the PSA permit. Unauthorized lots may be towed. Max days not published.

Is there an official signup email if spacea.net is blank?
