West of Clovis on New Mexico's high plains, Cannon Air Force Base hosts the 27th Special Operations Wing of Air Force Special Operations Command. Official base pages place the installation eight miles west of the city. Air Mobility Command lists Cannon among Non-AMC CONUS locations for Space-A flights. This is a U.S. Air Force special-operations airfield, not a standing AMC passenger terminal.

Last verified 27 August 2026. Hours, fees, and presence rules change. Confirm with this terminal’s official page before you travel. Pop’s is unofficial.

Where is the passenger terminal?

Not published. No AMC directory row, no AMC `/Terminals/` page, and no cannon.af.mil page names a passenger-terminal building or street.

The 27 SOLRS fact sheet (https://www.cannon.af.mil/Test-Page/Article/207015/27th-special-operations-logistics-readiness-squadron/ — Wayback 9 Dec 2025) says the squadron’s responsibilities include “personal property and base wide passenger services; and air cargo and passenger terminal operations.” That is LRS mission language, not a traveler SOP and not a facility address. Do not treat it as a terminal page. Public Affairs at 511 Chindit Blvd Room 126 is PA, not PAX. Unofficial “ask at Main Gate” listings are flagged unofficial.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

There is no PAX-terminal page to print a passenger gate. From cannon.af.mil/Visitors/ (Wayback HTTP 200 19 Apr 2026; live snippets 27 Aug 2026 matching):

Cannon is a closed installation. Proper ID required (CAC, retiree, dependent, sponsored guest, etc.). Cannon does not accept other-installation DBIDS cards.

VCC hours conflict on the same official page — do not invent a single clock:

  • Header: Open 7 days a week. Hours: 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Phone (575) 784-2400.
  • “Unofficial Visitor Access” block: Effective 1 November 2021, VCC hours are 6 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. After hours, unofficial pass requests process at the Main Gate 10 p.m.–6 a.m. with the sponsor present.
  • After-hours guidance also: Base Defense Operations Center 784-4111.
  • Additional VCC phones: (575) 784-2400 / 6300 / 4499.

Same-day unofficial guests without a credential, DBIDS pass, or EAL process at the VCC with their sponsor. Advance EAL / access requests: at least 5 days ahead. Visits >24 hours: guest must come to VCC during operational hours. Official visitors go through the host organization’s designated sponsor.

Commercial / oversize vehicles: not through just any gate — Portales Gate search pit only.

VCC parking: vehicles left overnight in the VCC lot may be ticketed and/or towed.

Unofficial foreign-national visitors: not unescorted; VCC pass “authorized base access with escort,” max 30 days.

VCC hours are not Space-A counter hours.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours: Not published. Homepage-only with no PAX clock on cannon.af.mil. Do not copy VCC 0600–1800 / 0600–2200 onto the Space-A desk. User/workbook rule: homepage with no printed PAX hours → Not published. N/A call/email for the board (below).

Do I need my sponsor at the VCC?

Yes for same-day unofficial guests. Phone/email sponsorship is not described as a substitute (in-person VCC or Main Gate after hours). EAL additions: 5 days ahead.
