Altus Air Force Base in southwestern Oklahoma runs a non-AMC passenger terminal under the 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Official AMC and Altus pages state the base is an AETC training installation for C-17, KC-46, and KC-135 aircrew and that it does not have regular Space-A service. AMC lists Altus among Non-AMC CONUS terminals. Space-A flights, when a training or duty mission opens seats, are southwestern Oklahoma airlift from the mobility formal-training base.

Where is the passenger terminal?

Non-AMC Altus AFB Passenger Terminal, 8th St., Bldg. 369, Altus AFB, OK 73523.

Workbook address matches. GPS Bldg 369 / 8th Street, not a generic “Altus” pin. On base. The HTML does not publish a terminal-map URL.

How do I get on base / which gate should I use?

The passenger-terminal HTML does not name a Space-A gate.

From official altus.af.mil Visitor Information and Newcomers (search-indexed 27 Aug 2026; direct fetch 403):

  • Main Gate (Falcon Road): 24/7.
  • South Gate (Challenger Boulevard): Monday–Friday 0600–1700.
  • Visitor Center: outside South Gate, 428 Challenger Ave, 6 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday–Friday. Phone (580) 481-6340. Visitor passes up to 14 days at the Visitor Center.
  • After hours: go to Main Gate. That pass is until the Visitor Center reopens (Main Gate: 24 hours or next duty day, not to exceed 72 hours).

A secondary Military Times listing of VCC 6 a.m.–6 p.m. is not the altus.af.mil clock. Official HTML: 6 a.m.–5 p.m. weekdays. Gate hours change; confirm with the Visitor Center / 97 LRS before a weekend show. CAC / DoD ID holders use a vehicle-access gate. Unescorted visitors need a pass — do not assume a Saturday 0500 walk-up.

What are hours, phone, DSN, and email?

Hours (official terminal page — wins): due to local mission requirements, the terminal will ONLY be open on days with projected roll calls. The terminal will open 3 hours prior to scheduled departure. Staffed only during Space-R / Space-A missions.

On-page clock conflict — print both; do not silently merge:

1. Contact block: opens 3 hours prior to scheduled departure. 2. Welcome text: pax terminal will open 1 hour prior to Roll Call. 3. Space-A: roll call 3 hours prior to departure (so “1 hour prior to roll call” would be 4 hours prior to departure). 4. Duty: counters open 4 hours prior.

Flagged. Duty 4-hour counter open is the only line that matches “1 hour before a 3-hour roll call.” The contact-block “opens 3 hours prior” is the same minute as roll call. Confirm with 97 LRS for that mission.

DSN conflict with live AMC directory: directory prints DSN (312) 866-5288. Terminal page prints (312) 481-5288. Do not silently pick 866. Workbook already flags 866 vs 481. 97 AMW DSN prefix in other official lodging lines is 866 (AF Inns DSN 866-7356). Treat 481-5288 vs 866-5288 as unresolved DSN; commercial (580) 481-5288 is the line to use.

How do I sign up for Space-A?

Use the Space-A Travel Registration Form linked from the official Altus page, then forward the confirmation email to 97LRS.LGRA.AltusPAXTerminal@us.af.mil.

Altus is not on the HQ AMC 40-location form list. Do not pick a nearby CONUS terminal and hope it forwards.

HQ AMC does not process sign-up. Print the confirmation. AMC Travel Self-Signup Tool is available for AMC locations; Altus is labeled Non-AMC on its own page — use the local form + mailbox, not a guess that HQ covers it.

How and when do I mark present?

Be at the Passenger Terminal ticket counter for roll call. Remote email is not “present.” The building is only staffed on mission days. After-hours / weekend / 1500–0700 roll calls have a separate intent rule (below). Have documents and bags with you.

When is roll call?

Space-A roll calls: at the Passenger Terminal ticket counter 3 hours prior to departure.

After-hours intent: passengers who want Space-A on flights with roll call between 1500 and 0700 Monday–Friday, or any time on weekends, must notify the terminal of intent NLT 1500 on the last duty day prior to the flight.

When should duty / PE passengers check in?

Duty / Space-R: check in at the front desk. Counters open 4 hours prior to departure. Duty passengers must be in line NLT 2 hours prior to scheduled departure. Late arrivals go to Customer Service for re-booking (or as PCS/TDY orders instruct).

This ATF does not publish PE-specific 24-hour / early-bird clocks (no 30-day PE product).

Does this terminal operate Patriot Express flights? If yes, to where?

No. Official page: training base and does not have regular Space-A flights. Workbook patriot-express field: Not Applicable. No 30-day PE icon. Treat as organic / training / occasional mission Space-A. Do not plan a PE hop from Altus from a blog.

Where is short-term and long-term parking, max days, and pass rules?

Not published on the official terminal HTML. Do not invent a max-day figure. Ask 97 LRS on a mission day.

What lodging is nearby on-base and off-base?

AMC/altus HTML does not name lodging.

Is there a USO, food, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers?

Not published on the official terminal HTML. Do not plan a USO, showers, or lockers. AF Inns lists a rec center / bowling / pool as on-base lodging amenities, not hold-room services.

What documents are required?

Duty: travel orders at the front desk. Space-A: DoDI 4515.13 eligibility plus ID/passports as required; bring the registration confirmation. Have documents on your person.

What are baggage limits and Space-A/PE fees if published?

Bags (official page): 2 bags per person, 70 lb max, 62 linear inches. One carry-on plus one personal item that must fit under any aircraft seat and cannot exceed 42 pounds total.

Fees: Not published. Do not copy a PE head tax from another terminal. No PE product here.

Can I travel with pets from here?

Not published on the terminal HTML (AMC Pet Travel is chrome only). Do not assume a tanker/C-17 training mission will take a pet. See the AMC Pet Travel page. AF Inns: call the desk for pet rooms.

Where are schedules posted?

Will Bldg 369 be open at 0800 on a random Wednesday?

Only if there is a projected roll call that day. Otherwise the terminal is not staffed.

If roll call is 3 hours prior, when does the building actually unlock?

Unresolved on the same HTML: “opens 3 hours prior” vs “opens 1 hour prior to roll call” vs duty counters 4 hours prior. Confirm with (580) 481-5288 / the mailbox for that ETD.

Do I still have to email if roll call is Saturday?

Yes if you want Space-A. Weekend or 1500–0700 weekday roll calls: intent NLT 1500 last duty day.

Is DSN 866-5288 or 481-5288?

Conflict. Directory 866-5288; terminal page 481-5288. Do not publish (312) as commercial. Use (580) 481-5288.

Is (580) 481-5333 the recording?

Not on the terminal HTML. Workbook flags it unreconciled. Do not treat unofficial “flight recording” listings as official.

Why is there a 72-hour PowerPoint to London, Ontario?

That is a dated mission file (AUG20), not a standing rotator. The icon may still point at it. Not this week’s board.

Can I use the HQ AMC 40-location form?

Altus is not on that list. Use the local registration form and forward to 97LRS.LGRA.AltusPAXTerminal@us.af.mil.

Is the amc.af.mil Altus URL the real page?

It is a duplicate AFPIMS copy of the same text. Directory webpage column is altus.af.mil. Open that.

Carry-on 42 lb — is that in addition to 70 lb checked?

Official page: checked 70 lb / 62 linear / 2 bags; carry-on + personal must fit under a seat and cannot exceed 42 pounds total. That 42 lb line is this HTML; do not replace it with another terminal’s carry-on rule.

What if I miss the duty NLT 2 hours?

Page: redirected to Customer Service for re-booking, or as orders instruct — not automatically boarded.
